Description

Entire house. Sun-drenched, 3-story single-family historic limestone on a quiet, coveted Park Slope block. Steps from Prospect Park and near subway, shops and restaurants. Versatile sleeping, remote learning and work space in 4 bedrooms, 2 of which are also equipped as home offices; 2.5 baths. Cook's kitchen and formal dining room. This is our primary residence, which we rent while we travel, setting aside ample closet and drawer space for guests. All three stories are available for your use. The space Overview: Our bright, airy house, with Victorian, as well as Arts and Crafts touches, is a stunner. Located in the heart of Park Slope, it is filled with books, Oriental rugs, heirloom china and folk art from exotic foreign travel. Other details include: original parquet floors, stained glass, wood paneling, mosaic tile, and Stickley furniture. All three stories are available for your use – it is a single-family home with no tenant apartments. Pandemic amenities: In various parts of the house, there are four rooms with desks that can be used in complete privacy for remote learning or work. Here are descriptions of each floor. The first floor, cooled with ductless air-conditioning during the summer, has a double-parlor living room; formal dining room; renovated cook’s kitchen with high-end appliances and a skylight. There is a 40-inch UHD TV and DVD player in the living room. A door off the kitchen opens onto a small deck with a gas grill and stairs that lead down to a charming, manicured garden with flowers, vegetables and culinary herbs. (Note: there is no bathroom or powder room on the parlor floor.) On the second floor is one large home office with a queen-size inflatable bed; and another room that can be used as a home office, den, bedroom or all three. This room, which can sleep up to 3 people, has a convertible queen-sized sleep sofa; a large desk that converts into a single bed (see photos); and a 55-inch LG OLED TV and DVD player. These two rooms share a renovated designer bathroom in the hallway with tub/shower. Each of these rooms has a window air-conditioning unit and a ceiling fan. The third floor has two large bedrooms (one facing the front of the house and the other facing the rear, for maximum privacy), each with a queen-sized bed. They are separated by a marble bathroom with double vanity, custom-made oak built-ins, a skylight, huge combination tub/shower, and separate toilet chamber. Each bedroom has a window air-conditioning unit and a ceiling fan. The back bedroom has a desk where a laptop could be set up for remote learning or work. Distinct from these three floors, on the lowest level of the house, is an English basement with a laundry room that has a separate washer and dryer, and an attached toilet chamber. A separate, large, basement room can be used for a variety of purposes: as a play space (there are an assortment of toys); exercise area (we supply a yoga mat and props); or additional place for remote work or learning (there's a computer table in the room). Three bicycles, stored in the basement, are available for our guests' use. Additional bikes can be rented through Citibike, one block from our house at the entrance to Prospect Park. Without exception, we do not allow pets or visiting pets. Guest access This is a private, single-family home. It's all yours for the duration of your stay. There are NO apartments or tenants to deal with. Other things to note A great value compared to other rental options in Brooklyn or Manhattan. For about what it costs to rent a cramped apartment in a multi-unit building in Manhattan, you'll get an entire 3-story, single-family townhouse in one of New York's choicest neighborhoods. We raised a family and have run two successful home-based businesses in this house. It's a perfect setup for families who need more space during the pandemic, as well as visiting professors, academics on sabbatical, film producers or professionals on temporary assignment in New York. For vacationers or retirees, it's a great, homey base from which to enjoy a leisurely visit to New York City. Two caveats: Without exception, we do not allow pets or visiting pets. And though we welcome guests who need a place to live while they are renovating their own houses, we do not permit them to use our home as a storage facility.
