Te Whare Kuukupa "the pigeon house"

The pigeon house exists as a result of a whanau project and with a big heart, effort and aroha accommodates up to four persons. Located in the friendly Whangaroa area, Far North and situated above the Kaeo Village, which was built on the flood plains of the Kaeo river that flows out to the Whangaroa Harbour and occasionally contributing a spectacular water view. Central to local and popular beaches, fishing and diving, bush and coastal walks. Visit the Puketi Forest to view the Kauri trees. The space Te Whare Kuukupa was built by the Hosts teenage children and their father 25yrs ago. To date it is appreciated by all four generations especially the little people "our mokopuna". Very quite and peaceful location also handy to popular beaches. 40min tour around the coast taking in awesome views from Matauri bay and the Million dollar view over the Cavalli Islands as well the Rainbow warrior memorial. Continue on to Te Aue bay "Te Ngaere bay", Te Kauri beach, Piapia bay, Wainui bay, Mahinepua bay, Tauranga bay and the famous Whangaroa Harbour. Tackle the Mahinepua coastal walk and/or walk to the Saint Paul's rock while touring the loop. Two minutes to the Kaeo village, 20minutes either way to Kerikeri and Cable Bay. 2.5hrs to the top of NZ "Cape Reinga". Also visit the famous Kauri tree "Tane Mahuta" 2 hours away in the Waipoua Forest. Guest access Te Whare Kuukupa and surrounds
