Transport yourself to another world on a ferry to Anderson Island. This little cabin has all the amenities you need. You can relax on the front deck to admire Lake Josephine, make s'mores over the firepit, play Twister or Pictionary in front of the electric fireplace, hike on the many trails, explore the tide pools, swim in the fresh water lakes, or enjoy movies inside. Whatever you like to do, Anderson Island can accommodate it! With a nautical decor, the cabin is very cozy and warm. There is a large open outdoor deck that overlooks Lake Josephine where you can enjoy a quiet cup of coffee on a crisp morning, or sip a cocktail at dusk. Use the fire pit out back to make s'mores or roast hot dogs. Our full size gas grill is the perfect size for any barbeque. We have many family games and puzzles for all ages, coloring markers and crayons. There is a sitting room with a door that can be closed for a quiet conversation even if there is a loud movie going on in the main living room. Our house is great for kids or adults. We don't have WiFi at the cabin (yet), so you will need to use your hot spot. The TV is really just for DVD use (we have a lot of DVD's or you can rent one at the General Store). We have found that Anderson Island has so much to offer outdoors that we are rarely inside using the television anyway. We are available by phone, text or email, and only live about an hour away if there are any major issues. The cabin is a short walk (100 yards) from Ray Park, where there is a play structure, swings, a covered picnic table, and a swimming area with a floating dock. There is also a sand volleyball court and a large grass area with plenty of room to kick a soccer ball or throw a football. For those who desire more excitement, take a short drive to the Johnson Swimming Hole on Lake Florence to jump from the 7 foot platform or slide down the twisty slide into the water. There are so many other activities that Anderson has to offer as well! The saltwater marina is very close as well, with beautiful views and beaches to walk on and explore at medium and low tides. We see wildlife of all sorts, including deer, bald eagles, hawks, bats, swallows, raccoon, coyotes, and even a black bear who makes his way to the island on occasion. You can cook in our full size kitchen, or you can visit the beautiful Lakeshore Restaurant for a delicious meal overlooking the water. The General Store has just about everything you might need in a pinch, and has the most delicious bacon you will ever taste. The Anderson Island Cafe is right next door to the store, and has a variety of lunches, breakfasts, latte's, milkshakes, and more. Hiking on some of the trails is a must. There are steep hikes to the Sound and leisurely walks through the woods. You will discover old ruins from the original settlers, bricks from the (failed) Anderson Island brickworks, and plenty of geocaching destinations scattered all over. The Johnson Farm is a must-see destination with its original farm buildings and hen houses. The gift shop and original Johnson Farm Museum have old relics from early island inhabitants.
