Lavender Cottage Hugs the Waters on Tamar River

A short 20 minute drive from Launceston, our cottage sits on the shores of the beautiful Tamar River. Ideally located on the West Tamar wine route Lavender Cottage is perfect as a weekend retreat. Enjoy the peace and quiet as you read a book and catch the beauty of the early morning sun on the river. Centrally located in the midst of world-renowned boutique wineries the perfect place for the wine connoisseur. Relax as local birdlife skim the waters while you sip your wine. The space This cottage is a rural rustic retreat. The cottage although small is quite roomy with 3 bedrooms. A separate queen sized bedroom.A small single bedroom with one single bed and a trundle bed for extra smaller bodies.There is also a double sized bed in a room adjoining the lounge room area. The lounge room enjoys a very efficient woodheater which is very cosy during the cooler months. It is quite spacious with a very comfortable lounge/sofa. The lounge can be used very comfortably as an extra bed if needed. The kitchen is cute and functional with all the usual accoutrements. Although quite small the kitchen is equipped with a full refrigerator, oven and stove top, microwave oven, rice cooker, electric fryer, toaster and electric jug and plenty of cookware. There is a big wooden table and a moveable island bench for extra bench space. Please note, we have chosen not to use toxic insecticides or poisons in and around the cottage so there is always the possibility for a cobweb or 2. There is a cobweb broom under the staircase for removing these efficiently if you are affected by the appearance of these at any time. The bathroom has been totally refurbished and is clean and bright with an enclosed shower cubicle. The toilet is also located in the bathroom. A large living area to the left of the cottage is a gorgeous sun trap and the perfect place to sit and enjoy the early morning sun as it shines over the water and into the front rooms which are all set to catch the sun. Up the steep staircase is another gorgeous sunny room with views up and down the river. The 'reading nook' is a great place to bird watch or check life on the river in general. There is a washing machine in the laundry and drying can be done on the old fashioned hills hoist in the garden or on the drying rack inside. We trust that you will enjoy our cottage as much as we do however please note that we are in a rural, rustic setting. This entails being part of the natural world so bees, mosquitos, ants, spiders, flies and dust regularly find their way into and around the cottage. We do our very best to take preventative measures without resorting to unpleasant chemicals and always do a thorough clean between bookings. We are visited by native animals and wildlife and for this reason we do not use any pesticides or poisons on the property. It is important to dispose of all food scraps in the rubbish bins. Any bread or carbohydrates are considered to be a big no no for our native animals, please don't feed them these items. The large decked area runs along the front of the cottage. Seating for 6 with a chimera wood heater and gas barbecue enables guests the option to cook outside and fully utilise and enjoy outdoor living and the magnificent views. The block is large with a beautiful garden both at the back and front of the cottage. Plenty of parking is available on a level clean surface. There is a small walk from the parking area through the garden to the entrance of the cottage. Mobility-challenged visitors may find this a problem so please be fully aware of the layout of our garden and the cottage entrance and parking arrangements. If you are not able bodied this location may not be suitable for you. Guests are welcome to water the garden as lavender loves lots of water and flowers all year round if well watered. We hope all our guests will enjoy this special location. The deep relaxing quiet of the nighttime and the clarity of the night sky are a unique pleasure in our device busy lives. Guest access Guests have access to the whole property. We highly recommend that all children are supervised at all times. The river is open and very close and there are no access restrictions of any kind. Other things to note The location is ideal for people looking for a place to retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. The air is clean and fresh. The area is very quiet and perfect for artists/writers looking for a recharge. Exeter is the closest local town with supermarkets ,butcher, bakery, hairdresser, doctor, pub and is only a five minute drive away. The area abounds with boutique wineries and is a real mecca for serious wine buffs. The area is also well used to bike riders for serious biking. NBN is not connected in this area however internet access is never an issue through the phone service. Telstra has the best connection but Optus also seems to work well. Registration Details PA2018226
