Activities, depending on the season, include hiking, biking, canoeing/kayaking, floating the river, swimming, cross county skiing, sledding, snowmobiling, zip-line, hunting and fishing, along with many trails and roads for ATVs or UTVs. Numerous lakes dot the landscape and the beautiful North Fork of the Coeur d' Alene River is just a few miles away. Two ski resorts, Silver Mountain and Lookout Pass, are literally minutes away. The Rails to Trails and beautiful Hiawatha Bicycle Trail offer fun for every level of rider. If it's rest and relaxation you're looking for, Grandma's does that in spades. It's not uncommon to see all manner of wildlife in your front yard: turkey, elk, deer and coyotes wander on property with seasonal regularity. Or travel just a few miles further to dine at the historic 1313 Bar and Grill in Wallace Idaho. Mosey over to the corner of Bank St. and 6th and look for a manhole cover declared to be the CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE! Ring the big brass bell taken from the old 4020 locomotive at the Northern Pacific Depot. Other nearby attractions include the Sierra Silver Mine Tour, Gold Mine tour and the Bordello museum. If you enjoy historic locations make sure to pay a visit to the Cataldo Mission. This fascinating structure features wooden dowels for nails and is the oldest standing building in Idaho If you enjoy history and antiques, be sure to make the drive to Murray, Idaho and go to the Sprag Pole museum, to visit the restaurant and left behind memorabilia from the Gold Rush of the 1880's. Public transit includes the Silver Valley Kab Co. If you're traveling with your ATV or UTV you can get an Idaho permit to ride on most any road. For the more adventurous at heart, the Rail to Trails goes from one end of the valley to the other, an excellent adventure best experienced from the seat of your bicycle.
