Just a 1.5 hour drive from NYC, this home is the perfect beach getaway spot, with a few steps from the deck to the private beach with its beautiful view across the Great South Bay. Remote work with stunning water views through the wall of windows & in cold weather light a fire while sunlight floods the living space. Two queen bedrooms & bunk bed room sleeps 6 guests, great for families or a small gathering of friends. 5 min drive to ocean beach with great swimming & surfing at Smith Point. The space The A-frame house is on two levels: on the upper level is the master bedroom, large enough to include a living area which looks down onto the open space below and out to the water through the wall of windows. There's also a desk up here, for remote working, if needed! One of the bathrooms is also upstairs: this was recently renovated, with oversized shower w/marble shower seat. Downstairs has the A-frame cathedral ceiling and is open plan. There's a cozy working fireplace. The two other bedrooms (one with a queen bed and the other with a bunk bed) and the other bathroom are at the rear of the house. Please note that while there is central AC & heat on the lower level (which includes 2 of the 3 bedrooms), the upper level has a ceiling fan and windows which allow the bay breeze to blow through and cool. Smoke & carbon dioxide detectors are located on both floors. The kitchen features a brand new fridge/freezer, dishwasher, stove/oven & microwave. The deck faces the Great South Bay with a great array of wild birds to be seen, and amazing sunsets at dusk. Swans swim past elegantly and the silhouettes of deer cross our lawn at dusk! Our private beach varies in size depending on the tide, and the water is shallow and safe for children. The shallow water is great for kids to use nets to catch small crabs & shrimps & hermit crabs. The beach is a mix of sand and rocks, so water shoes are recommended to walk out into the water. The waters are calm and are perfect for paddle boarding and kayaking (not provided). A favorite trip is out to Bird Island with its sandy reef and pristine waters (20 mins by kayak). You can also fish right from our beach: striped bass and bluefish are regularly caught, using a lure or clams/bunker as bait. (There's a great bait & tackle store just 10 min drive away) When the tide is out, you can walk along the beach to the left and be surrounded by unspoiled nature, with not a single house in sight. A great swimming and surfing beach on the ocean is at Smith Point nearby, just 5 minutes drive away. There's also many local nature preserves with hiking trails to explore. (Please note that while we do provide beach towels & deck chairs for the deck, we don't provide other 'beach gear' like folding/backpack beach chairs to take to the ocean beach, beach umbrellas or kids beach toys) Please note we have a strict no events or parties policy, and don’t allow more than 6 people at the house and grounds at any point, even if they’re not staying the night. The house is a 10 min drive to Mastic-Shirley LIRR train, which connects to Penn Station in NYC and out to Montauk at the tip of Long Island. 20 min drive to the Manorville stop on the Hampton Jitney bus from NYC.
