Owners are a bilingual family. Entrance to the building is via stairs and unsuitable for wheelchairs. The apartment is on the 1st floor served by a lift. Ski equipment and boot storage is in the private basement room next to the communal laundry room. Guest access Private outdoor parking #4 in front of Balmoral: the cul-de-sac is regularly cleared but chains are sometimes required to get the 80m back up to the main road depending on the conditions. Two guest parking places on first come first served basis. Other things to note Private outside parking space no 4 in front of Balmoral – the cul-de-sac is cleared of snow regularly but chains occasionally needed to climb the 80 m back up to the principal road depending on the days conditions. Distances: 110 m to Avenue Centrale 230 m to supermarket 350 m to skating rink, swimming pools, spa, bowling 100 m to ski bus then 650m by bus to télécabine 475 m to ski train via Avenue Centrale 340 m to ski train via Villars Palace 290 m from bottom of ski slope to apartment Skiing tips: Datweiler Sports and Sports House are very good for all your equipment needs and have shops and ateliers near to the telecabin and the train station. Datweiller also have ski and ski boot storage at both locations. We take the ski bus to the telecabin and ski back to behind the Hotel Victoria in the afternoon. If there is not enough snow to ski to the Victoria we take the train down and either walk above the Villars Palace to the apartment or wait for the circulating ski bus. I have left pamphlets in the apartment including the skibus routes and times. Restaurants d' Altitude: Bretaye has self service and resto upstairs and below is a casual snack area. The Hotel du Lac and Lac Chavonne are also good. Col de Soud and the Golf Club restaurants are very good. Les Mazot and Les Chaux have restaurants and self service (and picnic areas) and the best meal is at l'Étable below Les Chaux. Food Shops: We use the Coop and the Laiterie both of which are on the main street opposite the Beau Soleil School. Information Centre: All that is on in Villars is posted at the visitors centre , where there is also the Swiss Ski School counter. I have collected most of the current pamphlets and left them in the apartment. Normally there is entertainment and fireworks on New Years Eve. Sports Centres: The skating rink, bowling, swimming pools, Spa and fitness centre are below the Beau Soleil. Walk down from the apartment, across Avenue Central, past the Sporting Restaurant on your right handside and after the Residence Panorama turn right and walk 100 m to the complex. The tennis and squash are in the building on the other side of the Villars Palace , 100 metres above the railway station.
