Description
This historic house sits on a small rise within approximately 7 acres of mostly forested land. It is a 2-minute walk from Mackerel Cove, which is just about the finest place to be a sunset spectator on Swan's Island; it also happens to be the place from which the ferry comes and goes 3 to 7 times a day. At 8 Ferry Road, you are about a 1/2 mile stroll from the ferry dock and close to Atlantic Road which leads to an abundance of other stops, landmarks, and trailheads to adventure. Come visit! The space The house is very easily accessed from the ferry; even on foot. It's useful to have a car, however, because then you have more ready access to the rest of the island. Biking around the island is also possible, but be aware that the roads are narrow and vehicular traffic is used to moving at a good pace (maximum speed on the island is 40mph). The house has a fully-equipped kitchen - plenty of dishes, cooking and baking equipment, updated gas stove/oven, and dishwasher. There is a Weber tabletop grill, with gas included. There is a landline phone in the house, as well as WiFi. There is a CD player/radio, but no television, and no Bluetooth speaker/device. The floors are laid out as follows: kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom (1 full/queen bed), and book-nook on the first floor. Three bedrooms upstairs (two have one single bed each, and one has a queen). Guest access There is a "shed" area off the kitchen, including an extra refrigerator and more kitchen storage (lobster pots, etc.) - guests are allowed access to this area. The second floor of the shed (accessed from downstairs shed and the "back bedroom" upstairs) is locked - this is for owner access only. Guests are welcome to use all outdoor spaces adjacent to the house, including the big stairs that lead the "lower field" and the swing.
