Description

Off grid yurt in the pines, with great view of mystic miner and Terry peak above, on mile 100 of beautiful Mickelson trail. Get away to nature (with style and a unique stay)....goulay. not for non-outdoorsy as there is only a half bathroom outhouse, no running water (you get to port it in, great spring pump at nearby Englewood trail-head on Mickelson and running stream for a dip at bottom of hill), no electricity, and a great little wood stove. BEFORE RENTING read other things to note. The space The yurt is one big room on a sloped lot with front deck literally in the pine trees, with unforgettable nightly sunsets and brilliant night sky. We worked to hand fall and peel logs all on property used for platform along with local beetle kill rough cut pine for flooring. Yurt is made by quality Pacific yurts in Oregon. It was erected with an international team of family friends, and local neighbor helped to design and weld support tabs in beautiful mature pines as front cornerstones. All log pylon supports were hand dug along with the outhouse "#2 with a view" by family and dear friends. We hope you enjoy the one of a kind experience the snowkitty yurt provides from a place of labor of love. Guest access Driveway for parking, also when high snow parking at corner of switchback below available and/or on side of road above yurt. Please read and reference detailed captions with pictures for parking options and trail access. Other things to note Full disclosure items: (there is cell service in and around the yurt) 1. You will need to port water in and/or use pump well available at Mickelson Englewood trail-head during spring, summer, and fall. 2. The wood stove heats great with temperatures above freezing, when colder than freezing yurt will be chilly and need extra blankets/sleeping bags to stay comfortable. 3. Rent during winter and fringe seasons at own risk as weather in the Black Hills can be unpredictable and snow remains both in driveway and around yurt potentially late into spring. Parking can be found at switchback below yurt with a small walk up the hill or on hill above yurt. 4. Everyone has different levels of comfort, therefore if cold temperatures are a typical issue for you avoid renting the yurt unless warm temperatures as the temp inside will not be different until wood stove warms up, warming the yurt minimally in extreme colds. 5. In terms of comfort an open outhouse is also no big deal for some and a deal-breaker for others, so understand that there is an outhouse on site that is open to trees on two sides (is protected from public view, we lovingly call it "number 2 with a view". There is a nicely cleaned and maintained public outhouse at Englewood Trail-head about 2 miles up the trail/road. 6. This rental is as much for the experience of staying in the pines/woods in a truly unique setting with great access to trails more so than a comfortable nights stay to get quality rest and a hot shower, so please fully understand what you and your group are signing up for. 7. safety for kids, the front deck and side walkway has a significant drop-off so adults will need to keep close eye on children.
