Thundering Hills High Country Cabin
Description
A unique, luxury off grid experience with spectacular views nestled among century old gum trees on a 100 acre property at an elevation of 1100m above sea level. The cabin is hidden among the rolling hills of Omeo (meaning ‘hills and mountains’ in the local indigenous language) close to Cobungra, Dinner Plain and Mount Hotham. A unique farm stay with beautifully appointed modern conveniences enhanced by picturesque natural surroundings, suiting our family and hopefully yours, to a tee. The space The property is our sanctuary, a place to escape from city life. To soak in the sun, to enjoy the crisp breeze off Mount Hotham coming in from the west. Enjoying the spectacular night sky typically littered with stars from either the covered deck or fire pit outside or the warmth of the fireplace inside - the property has something for everyone. It also provides an excellent base for a ski trip to Mount Hotham or dog sledding, snow shoeing or tobogganing at Dinner Plain. Various animals meander across the property always providing entertainment from Kangaroos to wombats, sheep to cattle, and our endearing alpacas! Bird watchers will also enjoy the many types of birds in the area. The cabin has a well appointed galley style kitchen which opens out onto the living area where a comfortable sofa and fireplace make for a cosy spot to end a day out in the country. The dining area benefits from the spectacular views of the valley and mountains beyond. Sleeping: the cabin has two bedrooms on the ground level. The enticing master bedroom provides a beautiful sleeping space with a comfortable queen bed, while the second bedroom accommodates gorgeous, custom built single bunk beds. There are also two lofts. If a second queen bed is desirable let us know and we can make that up in one of the comfortable loft rooms. You can see more of the property and our high country adventures on Insta @thunderinghills or our website for Thundering Hills. Guest access Guests have use of the entire 100 acre property. We thoroughly recommend going for a walk over to the spring fed dam and creek on the western boundary or up to the highest elevation (1200m) at the southern boundary for views of Mount Hotham on a clear day.
