Saint Mairéad’s Well (also known as Toberdoney Well) lies on the estate of Toberdoney House, situated in a soft grassy area under a big ash. The roots of the tree form a beehive-like well-house, and a large stone with inscriptions (“SH OC 1788” and “TH 1700”) serves as a water stop. In the early nineteenth century, large crowds gathered on the feast day of the patron saint (formerly called “The Lord’s Well” or “Sunday’s Well”), with sporting events taking place.. The well was frequented for ablutions of Stations by the Vulgar in 1835 Ideal Location: Proctor’s Lodge serves as your gateway to Ireland’s Ancient East. Additional Details: Atmosphere: Both inside and outside, the house exudes an inviting atmosphere and country house charm. Modern Amenities: Proctors Lodge, an annexe building within the yard of Toberdoney House, was completely renovated in 2018. It features: Dolby Surround Sound TV and Music LED Lighting Underfloor Heating Pool Table Full Sky Package with Netflix, Prime, Apple, and Disney Guest access The entire lodge is self contained, it has its separate entrance and parking. We ask you if you need to charge your electric car please do so after 23:00 and pay €20 to cover the cost of it. Other things to note The access to Proctor's Lodge and Toberdoney grounds is a long lane, which neighbours and our children also use, so please drive slowly.
