Description
Welcome to Potato Island. Enjoy a cottage on a private island, a true Canadian outdoor experience. The space A cottage, bunkie and private one acre island within Horseshoe Bay of Big Rideau Lake. The main cottage includes an open living space, three bedrooms (1 queen bed, 1 queen bed, and 1 bunk bed with a double and single mattress), a well-outfitted kitchen and a three-piece bath (shower, sink and composting toilet). There is only a single bed in the bunkie that is suitable for an adventurous teenager or someone who wants their own space. The cottage is a three-season property with a wood stove for heat and a ceiling fan and three tower fans for cooling. The island receives a good breeze that also helps keeps things cool on warm days. Outside the cottage there is a deck, a fire pit with seating, and a small swimming area with swim raft. For the 2023 season we are upgrading the lakeside dock to add even more space to enjoy the beautiful lake views. The cottage rental also comes with use of the two kayaks, two canoes and two row boats available on the island. For rainy days and evenings there are books, games, art supplies and toys for the kids. Potato Island is a beautiful, rustic Canadian cottage and a great place to relax with family and friends. Guest access Enjoy free reign of the entire one acre island, cottage and bunkie - all to yourself! Other things to note It is important to note that there are ~ 50 steps from the parking down to the onshore dock and around 15 from the island dock up to the cottage. Thus, although this is a fun family property, it may not be suitable for anyone with mobility challenges. Another important note is that the one toilet is a composting toilet. It works well, but it is important to follow the instructions provided by the host.
