Description
Little Barn is an intimate hideaway, perfect for couples looking for cosy and characterful accommodation close to beaches and Dartmoor National Park. The one-bedroom barn conversion with wood-burner provides all you need for a romantic retreat. In addition, there’s a glazed chill-out room in a charming, single-storey building next door, which also provides a utility room with full laundry facilities and an additional toilet and shower. There is also a 0.5 acre garden with orchard and picnic spot The space The stone-built barn is a cosy, two-storey building with an open-plan living room, kitchen and dining area downstairs. A winding staircase takes you up from the living space to the airy, under-eaves bedroom and ensuite shower room. The bedroom has a large, opening roof light which affords countryside views. From the sofa downstairs, there are also views of rolling Devon hills through a half-glazed door. On chillier days, turn on the mood lighting and snuggle up beside the wood-burner (available for use between October and April - logs provided for first night). When the sun shines, enjoy the tranquillity of the half-acre garden with a gently trickling stream. The patio area and stream can be lit at night while you cook up a feast on the Webber BBQ. There’s ample outdoor dining furniture here, or head down to the end of the garden where you’ll find a tranquil picnic table with views across the fields. The upper end of the garden is sensitively landscaped. Further down, there’s an orchard with fruit trees. Feel free to help yourselves to the fruit when it’s in season. The adjacent annexe provides a spacious ‘chill-out’ room and further dining area, laundry facilities and a wet room with a power shower for people or pets. Both buildings are tastefully furnished in a contemporary country style with white-washed walls and a muted, neutral colour palette which creates a restful ambience. The underfloor heating in both buildings is powered primarily by solar panels. From the village, the gravelled approach to the barn takes you round past a private house to an allocated parking area. The barn and annexe sit in a large, fenced garden opposite the main house, but separate from it. Non-smokers only. Dog friendly - well behaved dogs are welcome at a charge of £30 each - to be agreed beforehand. You will be expected to clean up after your dog/s. If you do not, then an additional cleaning fee will be charged. Please be advised that ensuring accessibility for individuals with disabilities can be challenging in buildings with character. While the barn does feature a sturdy handrail, the narrow and steep spiral staircase unfortunately presents an insurmountable barrier for those with severe mobility issues. We welcome children over the age of 12. The property is unsuitable for children under this age due to the spiral staircase. 2 guests including child maximum Guest access You’ll have the house, annexe and garden all to yourself. Other things to note Off-road parking for one car. EV charger Type 2 tethered (‘Zappi’ 7kW) available or dedicated 3 pin wall outlet charging (2kW) available on site, by arrangement. [Charges apply]
