This newly renovated modern farmhouse is located on 80 acres of a former dairy farm. You will enjoy the views from the deck of the rolling fields framed by the barns and surrounding forested mountains. Large families and groups will enjoy the space and modern comforts that the house provides. The house was recently renovated from top to bottom. It includes modern appliances, fixtures, high speed WiFi, Smart TV (no cable or satellite), and even an on-demand backup generator. It has five bedrooms each with a king bed. There are four bathrooms each with a shower. There is one bedroom and bathroom downstairs. While this house is not ADA compliant, many people that have limited mobility (can get up a few stairs to get in the house) find the downstairs bedroom comfortable and the downstairs bathroom with walk-in shower and grab bars convenient. The spacious kitchen and dining area is a great gathering space that has beautiful country views. The living room has comfortable leather sofa and chairs and a fireplace to warm up next to on chilly days. There is ample parking for multiple cars and trailers. Guest have access to the entire house and the immediate yard surrounding the house. There are two floors in the house and a few stairs that need to be climbed to enter the house. Entry is through the side mudroom (a great place to hang coats, leave wet cloths or muddy boots) with a keypad doorknob. As the farm is still in use for agricultural purposes, guests do not have access to the garage, barns and agricultural equipment that may be parked on the property. Guest may explore the fields on foot (or skis/snowshoes) when agricultural operations are not taking place. We live very close by, within two miles. As you will be able to check in and have access to the house at your convenience, we may not be able to meet you upon arrival but we will check in with you shortly after you arrive to ensure you have what you need and answer any questions. We welcome calls or messages if you need any assistance during your stay. As this is a working agricultural farm, we may occassionally be accessing the garage, barns, or fields near the house. This is a very rural town, surrounded by the Western Maine mountains. The views are breathtaking and the town atmosphere is like taking a small step back in time. The town offers numerous outdoor recreational opportunities in all seasons. Hunting, fishing, ice fishing, horseback riding, bicycling, mountain biking, hiking, boating, swimming, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ATV and snowmobiling ... Other outdoor adventures are a short ride a away - three alpine ski resorts, cross country ski trails, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, numerous hiking trails, and more. The town of Andover has a few amenities. There is a general store that has groceries, alcohol and other sundries as well as pizza ovens and a grill, serving meals all day. There is a seasonal ice cream shop, cross country ski store, hardware store, bike shop, herb shop, and masseuse. In the center of town, you can enjoy a picnic on the Town Common, play tennis or basketball, and chase the kids on the two playgrounds. Our library offers a book swap section and their WiFi can be accessed even during off hours. A few of our local farms sell meat, dairy, eggs and produce directly off the farm. There are also several Registered Maine Guides in the Andover area that are available for guiding wildlife viewing, boating excursions, fishing trips, hunting parties, etc. If you need recommendations or are looking for something specific, please ask and we will help find the service or product that you need. The rural area makes a car necessary for getting to the farmhouse and around the area. The farmhouse is well located two miles from the center of the town where the stores and other community services are located. Snowmobile and horse trails can be accessed from the house. The ATV park and ride is in the center of Andover two miles from the house. The local cross country ski and snowshoe trails are near the center of town. Hiking, swimming, waterfalls, and boating are within a short drive. Please note that some amenities are seasonal: Outdoor seating, picnic tables,, grill, and firepit are not available during the winter as the snowload will bury them or damage them. The indoor wood fireplace is not available during warmer months, typically April-October, as it can cause a smoke and creosote hazard if the weather is too warm.
