Penrose was designed for convalescing war veterans seeking a quiet resting place built above the beach. It is now a holiday home arranged on one floor and retaining much of its original charm and character. This cosy property, which has undergone extensive internal refurbishment and redecoration, is equipped to the highest standard and is designed to be charming, comfortable, practical and relaxing. Penrose has been sympathetically restored and is well proportioned with great views, of the Sea it is ideally suited for quiet breaks and hectic family holidays alike. With 2 bedrooms, a lovely light airy open plan sitting room with fantastic views, and a great sized kitchen/dining room, Penrose will happily accommodate gatherings of up to 4 people yet is equally suited to a quiet weekend away for two. For transparency Please note that the neighbouring property ( to the left as you face the sea) has planning permission to build a garage at the front of their property at road level. Work has commenced but is currently (March 2025) on hold until at least mid July (2025). The property is empty. Please be aware that building work/house renovation may be going on next door during your stay if you book after July 2025. The building work done to date has not disturbed our guests . It does not interrupt the view or the parking but you may hear building work going on which is out of our control. Some weeks there is no activity at all, other weeks there may be builders there - like most building projects the work is sporadic and we as neighbours do not have any control over it or a schedule of when they will be there. However I have been reassured no works will continue until at the earliest July 2025. The Builders are not there in the evenings or weekends. As much as we would love you to book, if the sound of this building work concerns you and you feel it might disturb your holiday please don’t book. You can always message me if it concerns you and I will update you with the current status. If you are booking in May and June 2025 you will not be aware of the building work and it will not disturb you. There will be no building activity next door in May June (2025). We respectfully ask you to please ensure that you have paid £200 damage deposit into our bank account one week before your stay this will be returned a couple of days after your stay. We have not been required to deduct anything from this deposit from our guests to date but it is required to cover any potential damage loss breakages or additional cleaning. We are very happy to discuss this over the phone, If you are not comfortable with this please do not book. We do not recommend this house if you have toddlers/very young children or frail guests due to the steps and balcony. There are 16 steps up to the house - please don’t book if you struggle with steps. There are narrow steep steps up to the back garden terrace. There is a single track road in-front of the house. (Please see photos). This is the road into Downderry from Seaton. Please see location map photo. We do not provide firewood for the wood burner this can be purchased very reasonably from the local farm shop in Tredinnick. Please message me if you have any questions I am happy to help.
