Avgi's House Pelekas

A restored 19th-century village house with a terrace under the vine, looking out over the hills. Avgi or Theodore will meet you in the village square and walk you to the door. Downstairs are the living room, the kitchen and the shower room. Upstairs you have the bedroom and the terrace, with a table for breakfast and dinner outside. It suits two to four people who want a week or more based in a lively village. The bakery is a minute's walk, and Pelekas beach about 10 minutes by car. The space This 19th-century house has been restored and has two floors. Downstairs, the living room, dining area and kitchen share one room, with a table for four, and the double sofa bed here sleeps a third and fourth guest. Cooking is simple, with two hobs and a countertop oven, and for coffee there's a Nespresso machine and a filter coffee maker. The bathroom, with a shower and WC, is on this floor too. Two staircases lead upstairs: the spiral one inside, which comes up into the bedroom, and one outside. The bedroom has a double bed, air conditioning and plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. The terrace is upstairs as well, under the vine, with a table and the view over the hills and the valley. Some guests write that they can see the sea on both sides of the island and across to the mainland, and a few have even watched the sunrise from here. The elevated position not only means great views of Corfu's mountainous west coast, the Ionian Sea, Corfu Town, and the Greek and Albanian mainland, but also cooling summer breezes. All the windows have mosquito screens, and there's a washing machine for longer stays. Guest access The whole house is yours, both floors and the terrace, with its own entrance. Other things to note The lane to the house has steps. Upstairs is reached by an outside staircase or by the spiral staircase inside. The house isn't suitable for anyone who has difficulty walking or managing stairs, and the bathroom is downstairs while the bedroom is upstairs. If you're travelling with small children, please keep in mind that the spiral staircase comes up inside the bedroom. Map apps don't lead to the door, which is why we meet you in the village square.
