Description

Come and relax in this tranquil space within a lovingly restored Victorian villa in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. Enjoy a complimentary welcome drink, de-stress with organic products in a large whirlpool bath (big enough for 2), and wake up refreshed to views over the Caledonian Forest. The large south-facing balcony is the perfect place to chill while wildlife spotting. Sumptuous superking bed, cool cotton bedding, cozy tartan blankets and soft, relaxed lighting...just bliss! The space Originally the Manse for the Free Church, and more recently for Abernethy Parish Church, this stunning granite villa is now a private residence which sits in a secluded location on the edge of Abernethy National Nature Reserve. Built around 1870 and respectfully restored over a 4 year period, this warm and welcoming home, retains the traditional style with a modern twist. The central heating and water is fuelled by renewable biomass heating. The Manse is a 4-bedroom family home, with one of the exquisitely designed bedrooms with adjoining balcony being available to AirBnB guests between the hours of 6pm and 9am daily. You have exclusive access to the stunning bathroom which is adjacent to the guest room. Guests can also relax in the snug on the ground floor during your stay, where there is a wood burning stove and selection of books and games to enjoy. Select your music of choice in the snug using a Nest Audio or enjoy your favourite TV show or film with access to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Sky Sports and Movies. We have 2 cocker spaniels dogs, Ben who is 10 years old and Buddie who is just a puppy! We can do our best to keep them out your way, however, The Manse is their home, so we'd suggest staying somewhere else if you don't like dogs. If you do like dogs, you are in for an absolute treat, as they will quickly become your best friends, especially if you let them join you in the snug for a tummy tickle in front of the fire! Guest access Centrally located in the village of Nethy Bridge, near Aviemore and Grantown on Spey, you can travel to the property by bus (5 min walk from bus stop), car, bike or by foot. We have a large bike shed to store your bikes overnight. The nearest train station is Aviemore. Parking is within the grounds of The Manse. You'll access the property through the rear door into the utility room, where we'd respectively ask you to remove your shoes (slippers are provided). We will welcome you in person to our home. You will only have access to the property between 6pm and 9am, even if you are staying for multiple nights, due to the hosts other commitments. This is non-negotiable, with the price reflecting the length of time you have access. During your stay you'll have access to the hall, downstairs snug, utility room, along with the bedroom, balcony and private bathroom on the first floor. During your stay Guests will only have access to the house when the owners are at home, normally between 6pm and 9am. Guests are invited to enjoy a complimentary welcome drink in the snug or on the balcony on your evening of arrival. Check out ‘NethyManse’ on Insta for video footage of the space. Other things to note The house is perfectly situated to enjoy a variety of outdoor pursuits during your stay. As a family, we are all members at Abernethy Golf Club, a challenging 9-hole golf course just 10 minutes walk from The Manse. We would also recommend rounds of golf at Boat of Garten, Grantown-on-Spey and Spey Valley golf courses while you're in the area. There are outdoor tennis courts and a bowling green just a few minutes walk down the road from The Manse....you can even borrow our racquets! If you like open water swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking or any other water sports, there are lots of local options including Loch Garten, Loch Morlich and Loch Insh. You are surrounded by forest trails, accessible directly from our garden, perfect for walking, jogging and mountain biking, not to mention a hikers delight being surrounded by Munros.
