Alvin's Room - Cozy and Comfortable

You will be able to experience our family's way of living and our culture. You will also be able to use our newly built classroom adjacent to the house for your work. The space A cozy and comfortable stay with Nepalese family fulfilling some of your basic needs in Nepal. Alvin's Room was named after the room was transformed from a storage space to accommodate Suraj's close friend Alvin Tai from Seattle, USA who was in Nepal on a business trip for a week. We have kept the room very simple. Our house is located in the heart of Kathmandu valley and just a few minutes walk from all major public transportation. Restaurants, banks, and grocery shop are also within walking distance. You can literally walk to the airport (30 min) and some of the World Heritage Sites. Also, it is a short bicycle ride to all major attractions (Historical Palaces, Temples, Stupas, Monasteries and popular Tourist Hangouts). We have had many friends and strangers from abroad spend their time in our house because of the warmth and location. You will get to blend with our family, taste Nepali food and experience the culture just the way it is for us every day. We treat you like our own family. We will assist you along your tour in negotiating costs for excursions and adventures to make it fun and memorable while making the cost very reasonable for you. We'll provide you a sim card for your telephone need (cost to be born by you) if you request for it. At no additional cost, we'll serve you three cups of tea every day. You may bring provisions/groceries and cook. We'll teach you Nepali Lessons for as long as you stay with us at a time convenient to both you and a member of our family. Guest access You can go to the roof of the house and just about any where in the house. There is a classroom in Suraj's office and you can access it while there is no class. During festivals and special occasions, we invite you to participate with us and our neighbors. Cigarette smoking is not allowed inside the house. Please use areas outside of the house or the rooftop. During your stay We offer help to show you local restaurants, bus stops, taxi stands etc. I do have a motorbike and can take you around for a small fee. In my free times, I am also available for guiding you around the city or sight seeing in the hills around Kathmandu Valley. Other things to note If you wish to use the washing machine, there is a charge of 5 dollars per use. We'll give you one load laundry detergent. Please ask us prior to using the machine because you may not be familiar in using it. Water and electricity is of scarce in Kathmandu so we request all the guests to use them wisely. We request you to bring an additional slipper for use inside the house. You will have to leave your outdoor shoes at the main entrance because the streets are not so clean and remain muddy when it rains. There is a separate shoes for toilet to keep it dirt free.
