Condo in Bagno A Ripoli
Description
Escape to the country in this historic Tuscan residence. The picturesque Italian holiday villa showcases original design features, regal accents, ornate detail work, terracotta tiles, lush old gardens, and an outdoor pool. A dense crown of cypress trees almost hides Villa Franchetti; built over three floors and dominated by a small tower. In 1427, the villa belonged to a Niccolò di Cante Peruzzi. In later centuries it would be “transferred”, in other words, sold for life to rich and illustrious Florentine families. Since 1563 a Lorenzo di Galeotto dei Medici lived there. In 1568 it was sold to the Corbinelli family. From the seventeenth century, the Peruzzi kept it for their own use. In 1900 the villa passed to Baron Franchetti. The baron carried out the radical restoration, designed by the architect Boccini, who gave the villa the vaguely Renaissance style that it still retains. The high ceilings with frescos and hand painted walls give Villa Franchetti a magical feel. The house was featured in the film 'Tea With Mussolini' (starring Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Cher) and you will notice the drive and main rooms in the film. All of the bedrooms look out into the trees or over the gardens and the area is quiet and peaceful yet it's only a short drive from the buzzing city of Florence. You can walk through the extensive grounds and olive groves and have use of the swimming pool. We will be on hand to show you around and answer any questions you might have. The private flat in this picturesque villa is surrounded by the Florentine Hills within the Chianti wine region, boasting serenity and peace just 10 kilometers outside of Florence. We recommend hiring car to get around and about as the Villa is perfectly placed to visit the Chianti, Florence and the shopping malls.
