Description

A converted stone-built barn, Rose Barn is a self-contained detached property with own entrance and private south-facing garden on the grounds of Grade II listed cottage surrounded by countryside conveniently situated on the edge of the village of Gurney Slade, just few miles of the remarkable cathedral city of Wells and the beautiful Mendip Hills, with easy access to historic Bath, Glastonbury, Frome and Bristol. There are many stunning National Trust houses and gardens to visit nearby. The space The Barn: Inside you will find an open plan lounge/kitchenette with a wood burning stove, two-seater sofa, table and two chairs. The kitchenette area is equipped with fridge-freezer, induction hob, combination oven (oven, grill, microwave), Nespresso Coffee machine, kettle and toaster as well as essential kitchen equipment, tea, coffee and sugar. Bedroom offers double bed and wardrobe. En-suite shower room is equipped with electric shower, wash basin and toilet; hand washing liquid, hair and body shampoo as well as towels are provided. Outside you will be able to relax in a south-facing cottage-style garden which is for your exclusive use. Entertainment: There is a DAB radio with Bluetooth, TV, Blu-ray (DVD) player and selection of films; no terrestrial TV service is available (only DVDs), but you can use your own devices to access streaming services; we have left you a spare HDMI cable if you wish to connect to the TV set. Wi-Fi Internet is available throughout the property. PLEASE NOTE: We do NOT offer any terrestrial TV channels such as BBC, iTV, C4 (including iPlayer), TV works with DVDs only, you can use your own account to access Netflix or connect your own device to the TV. Guest access Parking: Off-street parking for 1 car or small van is available (if planning to arrive in more than one vehicle please contact us first); there is ample space to park, but guests should be confident reversing along tight curved corners to navigate the parking. We also use the parking area, but you will always have free access to move in and out (please park on the right hand side of the parking area). Public transport: There are buses from the village to Bath and Wells, but no local short distance taxi services are available. It is possible to book a taxi, but please plan well in advance. Other things to note Pets: Well behaved dog or cat is very welcome, we do not charge additional cleaning fees for having a pet stay with you, however we do ask that you supervise your pet during your stay and don’t allow them to go on furniture (there is a dog blanket and sheepskin rug in the wardrobe for pets). Please ensure that your pet is clean before they are allowed inside the barn. Thank you. Please note – the garden is private, but not perfectly secured (small gaps in the hedge to one side and open to the parking area) and might be not suitable if your pet tends to escape or for high energy dogs. If you are planning to bring a pet with you, please let us know whilst booking. Children: The barn is ideally designed for 2 people and it is not suitable for children under 12. Please ask before booking. Wood burning stove: We provide a small firewood bundle with each booking during winter months (October to end of March). If more is required local shops and petrol stations stock seasoned wood. Working from Home: Rose Barn is predominantly set up for holidays/leisure visits alike, we do not provide any business amenities or desk space. Please discuss with us first if you're planning on extensive remote working during your stay. Electric Vehicles: Our electricity supply can not support charging of an electric vehicle at the moment and as such we do not allow charging from any electric socket in the barn as it will overload the installation this is due to the age of the building and a number of high consumption devices already relying on the supply. There are numerous public charging points available within 5 miles radius. Winter Visits: Due to the age, type and location of the building, during colder spells the electric heating alone is able to maintain constant room temperature of between 19 and 21 degC (66 to 70 degF) if operated according to instructions. Together with the wood burning stove you will be able to reach much higher temperatures and feel really cosy.
