Pūkeko Palace tiny eco retreat
Pūkeko Palace tiny eco retreat
Description
Step away from the tourist trail & into our well insulated, back garden placed, miniature unit - with mezzanine and Queen double slat bed. Exclusive use of guest shower and toilet in host's home (10m away). Off street parking. Coffee, tea, Milo and breakfast spreads included. Borrow our SUP and/or bikes for local trails! FREE 8amp EV charging included. ChadeMo FAST charging 1km away at village shops. Quality not quantity is our theme: for solar-loving, small footprint travellers! The space Its a micro house: small but tall, characterful and powered by the sun. It is grid-tied with regular 240v power if it's not sunny enough for your needs during your stay: it's modern but minimalist. This space is suitable for self sufficient township lifestyles: please help yourself to the organic salad & vege patch by your wee palace and use our composting and recycling. Fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle, small oven/grill & hotplate available, hot and cold water is a short walk away at the laundry taps & laundry sink where dish-washing is easier. The high pressure/low water use shower and toilet room is exclusively yours but separate to unit, in host dwelling. Social impact statement = You enable us to triple-bottom line towards environmental and social sustainability, benefiting many other local causes too. We are fastidious cleaners and place a buffer period before and after your booking so it can change if required. Guest access Bikes often available to borrow (we use them daily too), patchy wifi but plenty of authentic local knowledge based on 20 years of good living here. You're welcome to use our washing machine in daylight hours and welcome to use our washing (solar drying) lines! Host dwelling (kitchen and lounge) is not part of this listing. Your place has its own kitchen facilities as listed, and cozy lounge area. Other things to note We are volunteer first responders & involved in local conservation and education projects. Living by solar & grid means our electricity is a uniform 240v/50Hz and our hot water is heated when the sun is out - during the day...sustainable living requires us to adjust our energy needs to the weather/seasons. Power & hot water use etc after sun set means more expensive grid electricity for us, showering whilst sun out is effectively free ;0) we do however have an hour of FREE power 9-10pm daily, so please do your heating/cooling in abundance then! Te Anāu has ample provision of excellent motels and services, by offering our home to share we aim to cover our simple bills but we are not an excellent motel, we are a modern functioning family home, warts and all :0) we invite you to live well with us!
