Private and peaceful, rural and rustic. Shepherd's huts and cosy cabin. The bunk-house shepherd's hut with double bed. The cook-house shepherd's hut, for cooking and dining. Dark skies, open space and relax outside by the firepit, Simple camping Off-grid solar system for lights and charging mobiles. Local country walks. Animals and rural vibe create relaxing space in nature. The sun rises behind and sets in front. Some seasonal agricultural noise from neighbours. The space Whole place for yourselves. Private rural getaway. Entire site for 2 adults. Double bed in the bunk-house shepherd's hut, single floor mattress also available. Simple camping and self-catering cooking items in the cook-house shepherd's hut. Solar powered electric in huts for lights/sockets/USB sockets. (Over-use of laptops on charge will drain the solar batteries.) The cook-house has camping gas stove, a mini fridge, dining table and chairs, also a comfy sofa. Embrace the simple lifestyle and self-sufficiency. Fresh water is close by at the tap for washing and cooking. A simple hot water camping shower in a cubicle. 1 bag bbq charcoal and a bag of wood for the fire-pit is provided as a welcome pack. You can buy more of these from me if you need some. It's our family small holding and in the mornings and late afternoon I will be tending to the ponies and sheep for general duties. There will be seasonal agricultural machinery at work in the locality. We will respect your privacy and keep safe distance and be discreet. Dove Retreat guests can book Bright Heart enrichment in Nature experiences (which you can book from the Website ) Enjoy a 40 min stroll around the village footpath route, a lovely circular walk along the river, past our historic church and back to Dove Retreat. An hour trek will get you on top of Corton Denham ridge or the historical village of Sandford Orcas with the haunted Manor House. Or choose an adventure taking you back into the magic of medieval Britain with a trip to Cadbury Castle, (no castle it's all grass now) a large Bronze and Iron age hill fort, associated with the legendary King Arthur and thought by some to be Camelot. 7 miles if you drive. 4 miles away as the crow flies. You can hike from here, it takes about 2.5 hours, over Corton Denham ridge and enjoy breathtaking views. Check it out on OS maps and wikipedia. There's good pubs at Sandford Orcas, Corton Denham, South Cadbury and Mudford. Guest access Drive into Dove Retreat with your car and park on the hard standing. You will see the shepherd's huts and cabin in front of you. Other things to note No pets or children and adults over 18 bookings only. Self-catering accommodation, a mini fridge and I can re-freeze your ice-packs if you have a cool box. Simple camping with cool fresh water for washing; a hot water shower; a fire-pit for the evening; gas stove for cooking is provided with gas and some simple essentials e.g. kettle, saucepans, pots, plates, mugs, utensils. Extras: wood £5 a bag and bbq charcoal £2 a bag.
