Description
This is a working farm. Expect to see & hear the animals throughout your stay. Wagon 1 has heat, insulation, bedding & a double bed. Wagon to bathroom is 100 steps. There is an outhouse, also. Wagons like these are still used in parts of the country to take into the mountains for the summer sheepherders who are hired to manage 1000+ sheep in summer pastures. The space This Sheepherder Wagon is across a pond on a gravel, lit path. Flashlights are available in the kitchen area to help you find your way. We think the walk to the bathroom and parking is worth it! Guest access The outdoor gazebo space is available as a common space. Sit on the deck of the classroom and have your morning coffee while you watch the deer and listen to the resident owl. Other things to note The kitchenette in the Bright Room (attached to the barn) is equipped with a little refrigerator, microwave, sink, silverware, plates, a few pots and pans and a hot plate. If you'd rather eat in a restaurant, Philomath and Corvallis have many darling pubs and eateries. The farm has animals, a lovely huge orchard and garden. Our house is hand built, so be sure to wander by on the way to the orchard to visit. There are many wild visiting animals like wild turkeys, deer, birds and a neighborhood owl you can hear at night. The livestock guardian dogs are on duty in the pasture with the sheep, so we provide ear plugs to make sleep easier on noisy nights, but honestly, the spring frogs in the pond are noisier than the dogs.
