Clara's cottage is a beautiful grade II listed fisherman's cottage on West Looe Hill. Built early 1800's it is quaint and full of character. Situated just 3 minutes stroll from the harbour and 8 minutes to the beach with fantastic restaurants, pubs & shops all within walking distance. All your needs are catered for within the cottage with 2 bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, dining table seats for 4, home from home living area. For those rainy days we have a selection of games, books and DVDs. Other things to note Parking can be found at nearby MillPool car park. The postcode is PL13 2AF. Alternatively there is the opportunity to park for free along Marine Drive at Hannafore point. Lovely views of the sea, beach and Looe Island can be had when walking to and from the cottage. Out and about in Looe Whether you are looking to have a relaxing mini break, festival weekend, a romantic getaway or family holiday, the quaint cornish harbour town of Looe is the ideal location for everyone. The town is separated into East Looe and West Looe by the Looe River which runs between them. You can either walk across the seven arched bridge built in 1853 or take a small ferry boat for to access either side. The ferry boats are situated at the bottom of West Looe Hill which is where Clara’s Cottage is located, here you will also find the Jolly Sailor Public house which dates from around 1516 and is one of the oldest pubs in Looe. ​ Looe has its own sandy beach and famous banjo pier that backs onto a seafront walkway with cafés and gift shops. There are many excursions available for fishing trips including shark and mackerel fishing or simply sightseeing on a glass-bottomed boat. During the summer months there are also tours available to nearby St George’s Island (or Looe Island as it is known)which has a rich history and once belonged to the Abbot of Glastonbury. ​ Walking around the narrow streets of the town you will find many pubs, restaurants, cafés, ice cream parlours, gift shops, amusement arcades and historical buildings. A favourite pastime for children is to try their hand at ‘crabbing’ which can be done simply with a bucket and line for a few pounds. Positioned at the bottom of West Looe Hill is the medieval St Nicholas Church, if you take the short walk up the side of this it will take you up Hannafore Road to Hannafore Point where there are spectacular views of Looe Bay and the English Channel. Here is the start of the coastal walk to Polperro with two local stops on the way for refreshments. If the walk back is too much you can get the local bus or boat back to the Loor harbour. Further Afield Continuing along this road you enter onto Marine Drive and if you keep walking a short distance the road will end and the coastal walking path to Talland bay and Polperro will begin. ​ The walk to Polperro is around 4 miles and is highly recommended. Polperro is a small fishing village with a most picturesque tiny harbour as well as pubs, gift shops and cafés. The coastal path has stunning views and at around 2 and a half miles along, there is the Smugglers Rest café and bar plus a little further is the Talland Bay Beach café. The walk is perfectly safe but is quite steep in places and may be a struggle for small children. After exploring Polperro you may want to take one of the regular buses back to Looe, which is around a half an hour journey. If walking is your thing then also consider the South East Cornwall Walking Festival in September plus the many other walks around the surrounding area. Nearby attractions also include The Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary, The Eden Project, Kartworld Go-Karting, Adrenalin Quarry, Carnglaze Caverns plus the many other attractions and places of interest in and around Cornwall. A car ride to Land's End is approximately 90 minutes and is also well worth the journey.
