Description

ALL ABOUT THE OLD CHURCH HALL AT PARISH PLACE This newly renovated 135-year old former church hall has everything you need for a great stay while in Combermere; near to Barry's Bay, Algonquin Park, and direct access to the Madawaska River across a quiet street. Beautiful sunsets, an easy walk or cycle into town, an assortment of dining nearby, incredible amenities (central air conditioning, unlimited WIFI, BBQ, canoe, linens, towels, and more) await you and your friends and family. The space Imagine staying in a church hall! Built during the 1880s (1885 or 1886 to be exact), the Old Church Hall (also known as Mission Hall) served as the St. Paul’s Anglican Church hall until a few years ago. Since late 2020, we dedicated ourselves to creating a haven for our travelling guests to enjoy while on vacation, or even getting married in our church next door! Combermere is a very historic hamlet nestled along the Madawaska River. There is a host of fishing cottages and lakefront development in the area, that marry nicely with the old buildings and families that occupy century homes. The famed Madonna House retreat is nearby. The Hall now boasts much of this historic character with today's amenities. A short bike or walk to town is complemented with gorgeous sunsets and sandy bottom swimming at the public beach located directly across a quiet public street. During summer months, children and families can enjoy the playground and swimming raft. Locally, swimming lessons are hosted at the beach. Built over a century ago, it still retains some of the vintage charm you'd expect. Updates have been made to many of the rooms and offer a truly relaxing experience. There are private homes surrounding the large property, but you feel very secluded in the backyard enjoying the majestic trees and gardens. Feel free to spend your time enjoying sunsets from the front patio, or out for a great paddle on the waters of the Madawaska River. The bedrooms provide ample comfort, while the living space provides comfort for all. We've lived in the area for most of our lives, and love every inch of it. You will not be disappointed; we've created a space that you'll truly love. Guest access Guests have access to the whole property, but not inside the church unless arrangements are made with Craig or Jude. There are two areas to park: in the rear or in front. The "old museum" shares one of the driveways, so parking areas should be respected. Loud parties and excessive noise is not something that is appropriate in this area. Other things to note Winter/Fall - Close to the snowmobile (E109) and ATV trails!! Please contact the hosts for more information regarding trailer parking, etc. We are snowmobile friendly (and knowledgable) hosts. Canoe and paddles included. A small selection of lifejackets are included. We've tried to include many of the essentials, but guests should confirm with us if there are any questions. Guests are asked to leave the cottage as they find it. We ask that renters of our cottages clean up themselves, in exchange for no added cleaning fees to worry about. When it comes to be your last day, reference our checklist for vacation rental cleaning for maximum efficiency and courtesy as a renter. Supplies are provided. HST is a requirement of AirBnB and cannot be waived.
