You can still walk to great restaurants, shops and the fishing bridge. Enjoy the water in Matlacha & the Barrier Islands. Use our 1 person kayak for fun or fishing from our 8'X22' FUN & SUN deck docked in the back canal with picnic table & loungers. Relax, sun, grill and fish. The space This new house is in the HISTORIC DISTRICT of Matlacha and is on one of the larger canals. All types of structures and housing types are available to examine in this friendly village. Hurricane Ian has changed some of Matlacha and its former funkiness, but it is coming back. Plenty of room for boating, fishing or hanging out at the house and the new floating deck. You are no more than 100 yards from some of the best and unique restaurants like Blue Dog Cafe, Perfect Cup, That BBQ place and Island Seafood market & restaurant. Micelli's still has food and music everyday! FORGET SANIBEL ISLAND! Matlacha is the center of action for the true OLD FLORIDA BARRIER ISLANDS experience. Beaches with funky restaurants are 40 minutes away via ferry. Sanibel & Ft. Myers Beach is 50 minutes away (closer by boat). There's a lot more to know about Matlacha than you would of thought. The Great Calusa Blueway Kayak trail for Pine Island Sound and Matlacha Pass is the primo place for the best wild scenic, beaches, wildlife experiences that provide calmer and safer waters. I will provide maps and more complete info as you get closer to your holiday. You can go by foot, car, bicycle, boat, ferry to the BEST ISLANDS around. If you like Sanibel - then you'll LOVE Boca Grande (the island Sanibel would love to be without the cars) via the Ferry out of Bokeelia in North Pine Island - 10 minutes away. The ferry can also take you to remote Cayo Costa State Park (the most primitive au-naturale beaches for sunning, picnicking, shelling, hiking, biking, kayaking, bird watching, snorkeling, swimming, and relaxing by the water. Also Cabbage Key - made famous by the real home of Jimmy Buffet's Cheeseburger in Paradise - do not miss lunch on this tiny and cute island! There is water taxi service to North Captiva Island, docking at Safety Harbor Club, Barnacle's Restaurant and North Captiva Island Club and daily trips to Cabbage Key, Boca Grande, Captiva and Useppa Island and you can take in the nature, dolphin watching, shelling, manatee or bird viewing on the way through the Intercoastal waterway. Pine Island has a special paved bike road a safe distance away from the highway that is 16 miles long - see and experience the entire island - Lots to explore. Don't risk your chance for a lifetime memorable experience anywhere else to save a few bucks. You'll have free use of our Kayaks during your stay saving you $100 a day. More extensive boat, paddleboard, kayak or fishing expeditions start with our neighbors & other resources we will provide! Kid Friendly! We have a kid life vest, books, games and some toys. Sorry but this property is NOT SAFE for young children. Yes, you can have a rental or your own boat or jet ski here, anchor it in the back of the house at our floating dock, and will be able to watch it and use it anytime you want. Want info on where's the best place to fish that day - ask the neighbors! This area is safe and everybody is friendly and watches out for each other. We have limited parking. Smoking is allowed only outside with the doors closed. NO pets, sorry. Cleaning fee charged is LESS than we actually pay. Professional cleaners that are reliable and do a great job on the island are expensive. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ PLEASE NOTE: ACTION REQUIRED OF ALL RENTERS. We will need the following to create an agreement (which we will email to you) to complete your reservation: 1. Names of all those staying 2. Your email address 3. Your home address 4. Your Cell number 5. Emergency contact for our records and to share with security (not you). This is done for everyone's security. Reservations are not confirmed without this information and a returned signed agreement. In order to use the kayak you will need to sign a separate waiver prior to your arrival which I will provide along with the agreement. All people staying on the property must be listed on the agreement or separately with us so that security will allow them on the property. This agreement is a result of 15 years experience doing rentals and following the ever changing rules of our village association, government, insurance companies and now Airbnb. Since we ON & OVER the water where we offer boats, we have to disclose more. Many Airbnb operators have no insurance or protections for their guests and give no instruction or warnings about possible areas of concern. It's all part of being in business in the 21st century. We also encourage you to buy 'Cancel for Any Reason' trip insurance to protect yourself. Guest access Whole house and entire Matlacha Barrier Island area. Other things to note There is a 8X22 foot floating dock that has been anchored at the back of the house. This area gives you a unique floating backyard 'ON THE WATER' for real water views, sunning, fun, grilling, kayaking or relaxing and a dock for your boat. Great for tying up your boat. Smoking is allowed only outside with the doors closed. NO pets, sorry. Matlacha Village & Airbnb DO NOT ALLOW parties in rental properties. Disturbing behavior will not be tolerated by Village - Sheriff (if called) will ask ALL those in house to immediately depart without refund.
