Old Clove House

Old Clove House is a traditional Sri Lankan house with colonial architectural influences that has been fully renovated, modernized and now operating as an upmarket vacation rental home. Located in village of Mihiripenna, OCH is just 5 mins from the beach, 15 mins from Galle Fort, and an ideal base for a family or group of friends to explore and enjoy the attractions in and around Galle. Tasty healthy meals is one of the main features of a stay at the house. We take great pride in our food. The space Old Clove House is located in a lush garden of more than half an acre with an expansive lawn, mature trees and shrubs. It’s walled all around by a 10 foot high perimeter wall ensuring total privacy. The house is designed to maximise outdoor living perfectly suited to the warm climate of Sri Lanka. There are three bedrooms at the main house; the upper level master suite with a king sized bed and a separate sitting area, the poolside room with a king sized bed, and the children's room with a queen sized bed and two single beds. The main house sleeps 8 adults comfortably but with converted daybeds, up to 10 can be comfortably accommodated. Within the compound is the garden cottage with 2 double bedrooms and the garden pavillion with a large pavillion suite. The garden cottage sleeps 4 comfortably and is ideal for groups wanting a separate space away from the main house, be it a family with young kids, older teens, grandparents or friends. The large garden pavillion bedroom occupies the entire upper level of the large pavillion and is very spacious, light, airy and private. It can accommodate up to 3 comfortably and is ideal for a couple or a couple with a young child. All bedrooms are en-suite with hot water showers. All bedlinen are of the best available quality from the supplier of bedlinen to most upmarket private villas and boutique hotels in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. All bedrooms can be cooled by air-conditioning or overhead ceiling fans. Two cots can be made available and the house is very children friendly. Massages can be arranged in house at our massage room, and private yoga classes can be taken on the lawn or in the house. A standalone dining pavilion which seats up to 16 adults comfortably overlooks the 32 feet long swimming pool. Additionally, the pavillion lounge library is fully air conditioned and is ideal to retreat when the heat and humidity gets too much. The power supply is fully backed up by a fully automatic generator which kicks in immediately when the main supply is interrupted, ensuring continued uninterrupted supply to the house. No more blackouts. No more hot stuffy days and nights and the fans, refrigerators and air-conditioners will continue working quietly to keep our guests cool and comfortable. Guest access Guests will have access to the whole house. There is high-speed WiFi connection, with satellite TV offering all premium channels and the latest Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III on which guests can stream any music of their choice from any of their smart devices via Bluetooth and enjoy superlative sound quality. There is an in-house cook who will prepare all meals for guests as required.
