Charming studio apt designed for writers, artists, returning guests, & birders who need a quiet place in empty barn, on 4 desert ac, 1 mile from Saguaro Prk E. Tanque Verde area. Fragrance-free. No pets or children. 1 dbl, kit w/ Ctop, new appliances: tster oven, MW, blender, new bigger small fridge w/ separate freezer, BA w/ shwr. Labyrinths. (Covid cleaning protocols followed.) No cleaning fee. A place to unwind, relax. Great nearby hiking. We're owners & live here. LGBTQ+ always welcome. The space We've designed this place (which we call the Bobcat House) as a retreat for artists, writers, caregivers, and people with chemical sensitivities. We open it up for only a few other reservations for people who want a quiet place to rest and relax and for birders and bloomers (wildflower searchers). We are not a hotel or a vacation spot. We are not plush or luxurious. Our spaces are lovely and comfy. It's very private, and you don't have to see anyone while staying in the Bobcat House. We are mostly interested in people who want to come for a creative retreat. Beauty, peace, and quiet reign here. Besides this being an amazing creative space, it is nearly always perfect weather for writing, photography, hiking, and birding. There are three walkable labyrinths on the property, all made from stones. We have a bird sighting board outside that we keep up to date. We are just outside the city limits, on the east side of Tucson. Tucson is a sprawling desert town. If you want to be close to campus or the west side, this isn't your place! We provide a guidebook for this area. If you just google places to go to in Tucson, you'll end up running around instead of enjoying this place and this area. We are a mile from Saguaro Park East, a few miles from Agua Caliente Park, and 20 minutes and less from many hiking and birding areas. We are far from downtown and campus. For people with allergies or multiple chemical sensitivities: Our guest spaces were created with you in mind. No harsh chemicals are used when cleaning. (We use soap and water--which kills covid-19 along with hydrogen peroxide. And we run a UV light after each guest has left.) No pesticides are needed or used anywhere on the property. Organic cotton linens are washed in an eco-friendly scent-free detergent. The mattresses are made from 100% organic cotton. No recent remodeling has taken place, and when we do have to fix something, we make certain we use zero-VOC materials. No domestic animals of any kind are allowed (since the owners have sensitivities, too). We have HEPA filters available in each apartment. Smoke-free. Fragrance-free. Pet-free. We have 3 days with the apt empty between guests. WE FOLLOW AIRBNB PROCEDURES FOR COVID CLEANING. (The Wifi signal doesn't go out to the barn where the Bobcat House is, but you can get a signal on the front porch of the house and in a wifi spot about 50 feet from the barn. If there's something you must have when you travel, bring it with you. This place is designed as a creative and quiet refuge. No TV. ) Many amazing writers and artists have lived, stayed, and worked in these buildings and on this property. Kim Antieau wrote Church of the Old Mermaids here. Come for the sun, and stay for the inspiration! Stay for a short retreat or come for longer and relax, write a book, draw, paint, take photographs. We have dozens of birds on the sanctuary along with other wildlife. SE Arizona is one of the best places in the world for birding. We say that this place is part fairy tale, part magic, and all Sonoran Desert. Stories are everywhere here. Come find yours. We're not a big business or corporation. We own the land and live here. All of our guests are asked to leave the apartment clean and tidy when they leave. If this isn't something you are wiling to do, this isn't the place for you. Guest access You'll have the entire Bobcat House to yourself, including your own porch with some views of the Santa Catalina Mountains. You're welcome to use the front porch of the main house, the pool patio, and to hike any trail on the property. You'll also have access to the Quail House, a small studio space for relaxing, writing, making art. During the winter and spring most weeks, fresh organic cookies, breads, gluten-free bakes, and other goodies are made available from our on-site bakery, Sanctuary Bakes. These are for purchase for our guests (and some we just gift to you). We are registered with Arizona's Cottage Food Program. Other things to note The retreat spaces are not fully accessible. The paths around the retreat areas are dirt and sand and not currently suitable for wheelchairs. The entire property is non-smoking, inside and outdoors. The place is designed as a retreat space for artists, writers, caretakers, and people needing a quiet place restful place for a time, but others who appreciate the space are welcome!
