Description

Portland’s own Kerns neighborhood has been written up as one of the best spots in the US! For good reason, tons of charming shops and restaurants within walking distance with everything you'd need for your short or extended visit. Located off the bustling 28th and Burnside strip with a Whole Foods grocery store, park, movie theater, food cart pod and variety of cuisines to choose from. This is a private, first level apt in a craftsman house duplex. Pets allowed with an additional $75 cleaning. The space This apartment is the entire first floor of a big craftsman house, truly "old Portland" style. It has lots of windows, a comfortable king-sized bed, plenty of clothing storage with a big double sided armoire, a desk for working, smart TV where you can input your own access codes or use ours, a table that seats four for meals, and a private back deck and fenced backyard. Fully stocked kitchen with gas range, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, and lots of dishes, pots and pans etc. The bathroom has soaps/wash, a tiled shower, and a blow dryer. There is also an iron and ironing board for looking super put together on your vacation. The location is stellar in what we consider the best area of the city due to the hotbed of places within walking distance and proximity of a number of other destination neighborhoods such as Downtown, The Pearl District, and Hawthorne - all within minutes. Kerns neighborhood has been getting written up by Times Out and other publications as not only one of the best neighborhoods in Portland but in the country, we are tickled and couldn't agree more. Within blocks/walking distance - Whole Foods organic grocery store, Laurelhurst park, Laurelhurst movie theater, food cart pod, breweries, thrift stores, ice cream shop, yoga studios and a micro gym, wine shop and tasting room, and tons of other great restaurants and shops within blocks at a variety of price ranges. No need to rent a car as there is so much to do within walking distance and also easy public transportation, bike rental, and quick ubers to everywhere else. Please make a note - the heat system is shared with the upper unit. The thermostat is located on this unit and I ask that it be kept between 69-72, this usually keeps it comfortable for both units. If it's exceptionally cold can be turned up or there are also additional space heaters. There are floor heat vents in the bedroom and living room that can be opened and closed depending on comfort level, as well as additional space heaters. Please remember this is a house with a shared front entrance and door (additional separate locking door to individual units) so please be mindful of noise levels, door slamming, and keeping the front door locked for everyone's peace of mind. Pets are welcome but please let me know before booking. Pets have access to a fenced backyard and patio but I do ask that destructive or untrained/un-housebroken animals stay home. Pets should absolutely not be left alone if they bark incessantly. If you're traveling with multiple pets, very hairy pets, or staying for more then a week with pets, the regular pet fee may be increased. For stays over 3 weeks there is an additional $75 cleaning fee and/or the option of a clean during your visit. This space has a cozy king bed in the bedroom and another person could be welcome in the living room also. There is a couch and a twin blow up mattress (upon request) that can be slept on if traveling with an extra person or kiddo but occupancy above two are charged an extra $45 fee for the trip to cover extra linens, utilities, cleaning etc. This doesn't apply to children under 2. On that note, there is a pack and play crib (available with notice). Guest access Guests have private access to everything pictured as well as access to the washer/dryer in the basement. Other things to note There are usually folks in the upper apartment also. For this reason we ask to be mindful of noise levels after 10pm and before 8am, consider taking off loud shoes when inside, and please help keep the lower level front door shut and locked (on an electronic keypad deadbolt). Please don't do laundry after quiet hours or between 11am-3pm in case we're cleaning the other apartment and need access. For longer stay guests note that garbage is picked up every other week (like this all over Portland) while recycling/compost/yard waste is every week. Please do your best to recycle when possible.
