We are sharing our "happy place". Cozy, family-friendly cottage has everything you need to enjoy a lovely vacation in a quintessential New England town. Ideally located between Guilford's famous green, gorgeous harbor and town beach, easily walk everywhere. High-season/weekend rate reflected in general view--check for actual. Recommended for groups of up to 4 (5 if with kids). Second bedroom (king) is open to living area-we provide a folding screen for door area and curtain for “passthrough”. This is a 1 bedroom with a queen bed, 2 closets and dresser space. The Sunroom has the “big bed", a king bed that also serves as a great place to lay back and enjoy movies, games or a great book. It is adjacent to main living area with a pass through and open doorway, so we've installed a curtain over the pass through and provide a screen that can be placed by the doorway to allow for some privacy. Gather around a puzzle or classic game in the living room with ample room for family and guests. The dining area table seats 4 and the hutch is stocked with linens and kitchen with serving ware. There are two folding chairs in garage. Large galley kitchen is stocked with plenty of cookware, dishes, glasses and more. The favorite spot in the house is out of the house on the screened porch. Comfy seating on sturdy antique wicker, or relax on the lounge chair. The chest is loaded with games and puzzles for hours of device-free enjoyment. Huge side yard is great for badminton or other yard games. Also has a hammock and lawn furniture for a lazy afternoon nap. Small patio off the screen porch has a gas bbq and table and chairs for outdoor cooking and dining. We have adult bikes (2 vintage style beach bikes; 1 mountain bike), yard games, beach and camp chairs, beach and rain umbrellas and more. Driveway accommodate 2-3 cars. Full house, screened porch and yard. Everything for a fabulous vacation or short getaway is available - linens and towels, beach gear, games, bikes, bbq, fully stocked kitchen and more. Just bring your clothing and stop at the local Bishops, Big Y, or Fresh Market for your provisions. Or forget the provisions and walk to town or the harbor for breakfast, lunch and dinner at Guilford's outstanding eateries! There is also the Guilford Marketplace for quick provisions a quick walk into town. Available by cell anytime. And we'll ensure we or someone trustworthy is available should you need anything. This is the absolute best location for an easy breezy vacation or getaway. Walk or bike in any direction a half mile or less to the town green, the harbor, Jacobs beach, the Whitfield Museum, and the fairground. You can truly enjoy a week or all summer without going any further than walking distance. And if your like me and prefer to not cook, this place is all about the food...OMG, truly seriously good eats everywhere you turn. Around the charming and historic Guilford Green, you'll find incredible shops from browsing, basics, to splurging, thrift, gift and boutiques and don't miss Pages Hardware! And eateries abound that cover just about every desire -- from the best hash and eggs at Shoreline Diner to exquisite desserts at Hen and Heifer. Grab coffee and a panini, sweets or a scone at Cilantro, Ice-cream and chocolate at the Village Chocolatier, a steak dinner at Prime, or fresh deli and fresh provisions at the Guilford Market, or some tacos or fresh fruit salad off the food trucks. Experience cheese fondue and a wine flight at Ballou, excellent seafood and Italian fare at Quattro or Amorones (both have great weekday happy hours, too), terrific Thai at Som Siam, or a range of wonderful American fare at South Lane and Chapter one. Pick up your beer and wine at our two liquor stores, or belly up to the bar and play pool or darts, dancing to the jukebox at Sheppard's Tavern. The green hosts many music and theatre events and craft fairs, and on a non event day, it is a great place for a walk or a sit. Head to the harbor and take a tour boat ride from Bill around the sound, or bring a bottle of wine or beer and enjoy lobster roll and clam chowder at The Lobster Pound. And great salads and sandwiches at Pa’s Place. Hear some local bands and have a local pint at The Mooring. Or for a quick, casual meal with a view, simply pack a picnic and take a seat at the picnic tables at the harbor or at Jacobs beach. My favorite off-green food choices and still walkable are Buffalina for brick-over pizza and a terrific salad (best pizza ever!). Toast to your holiday with an excellent glass of wine sharing delicious appetizers and entrees at the Guilford Bistro. And for family fun, sit on a stump at The Place and let them do the bbqing for you (byob). Spoon up some yummy or a savor a cone of fresh made, delicious, ice cream at Ashlee's. The fairground kicks off the season with a Lobsterfest late on a Saturday in June, then is home base for a parade and fireworks around the 4th of July (typically week after), and closes the season in late September with the famous Guilford Fair. Look for other events in between. Fall and holiday events as well! Guilford has numerous parks, and also a public 9-hole golf course. And if golf is your game, drive 10-20 mins in any directions and you'll land on a lovely course. No need to drive anywhere, but if you seek adventure: - The Thimble Island boat tour our of charming Stony Creek, just 15 mins south. - Neighboring towns of Branford, Madison, and Clinton, all have lovely greens, events, and countless things to do. - A day at the state park beach, Hammonasset, 15 mins north. - 30 mins north on the Connecticut River, The town of Essex, with the famous Griswold Inn for a great meal and music or sing-along (so much fun), and try out the Essex Steam train and Riverboat ride. - Perhaps you would like to take in a show at the Ivoryton Playhouse or Goodspeed Opera House, both feature great musicals and dramas. And other great live performances at The Kate in Old Saybrook. - 1 hour north are Stonington, Mystic and Noank, three distinct area nearby each other. Mystic a big harbor town, Noank a tiny section with two great lobster places (Abbotts and Fords!) and Stonington, Noahs is awesome food, happy hour 3-6 everyday, and the Velvet Mill which has food and, antiques and other shops. - 20 mins south (or take the train) to New Haven to have famous Italian fare, walk the gorgeous Yale campus, or find music of nearly every kind. - Drive to north Guilford, Branford or Durham, and get farm fresh anything you can think of from local farms and farm stands. Durham Dairy and then the gas station Krusty Chicken across the street are great fast food eats. - And both Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods casinos are less than an hour away. - outdoor activities too many to list --- hike, kayak, boat, sail, to name only a few! If you enjoy "tastings", there are 4 local breweries, quite a few local stops on the CT wine trail, and a few cheese trail stops along the scenic drives in the area. There is just so much to do, I cannot list it all, but we'll leave email you all our favorite "adventure days" and places to dine when you book, and let you know of special events for the time you choose to stay. At our location, you don't need a vehicle or an Uber to enjoy Guilford and the CT coastline. And we are located walking distance to the train station which can be accessed from Boston or NY (And beyond). You can even take the local down to New Haven and visit Yale, or up to New London and take a day trip to Block Island or Orient Point (only about 20 mins to New Haven, 50 to New London). And the local train make stops at the many charming towns in between. The are also bus routes that stop in town and go up and down route 1 and many train/bus combos to desirable destinations. $250 security deposit $90 cleaning fee ($45 for 1-2 stays) Well-behaved dogs welcome.
