Greet the sunrise with morning coffee on the screen porch as you watch the cows graze in the surrounding fields. Enjoy a lovely walk down through the woods to picturesque Toddy Pond for a swim and kayak,  followed by an afternoon nap in the hammock. In the evening relax around the fire pit as fireflies, crickets, loons and owls take the stage. With no competing lights, the stars are the brightest you've ever seen. Originally built in the 1800's and renovated in the last decade, the farm stay cottage is a charming mix of old and new. A beautiful screen porch with wooden rockers faces east and captures the morning sun perfectly. The kitchen is small and quaint with new appliances installed in 2020. South and West facing windows wrap around the main room letting in sunlight, summer breezes, and a stunning view of Toddy Pond and the Camden Hills beyond. On chilly fall and winter days, a cozy wood stove makes you want to snuggle into the window seats, nap in the sun, and never leave. The first floor master bedroom has southern and western windows that wrap around opening to the farm fields and surrounding apple trees. A lovely (and steep) little stairwell takes you up to two sweet bedrooms, a second full bath, and an adorable sleeping nook. A sun dappled wooded path takes you down to the waters edge. Toddy Pond, more of a small lake than a pond, is quiet and serene. The farm's property includes over a mile of water frontage. The water is lovely for swimming and the four kayaks are perfect for fishing and exploring the pond and several small islands. Nesting loons and bald eagles are always a delight to see and hear on the pond. There is excellent smallmouth bass fishing as well. The farm offers 500+ private acres. There are several trails to walk or mountain bike, as well as a small farm pond that hosts heaps of frogs, turtles and such. The fields and woodlands offer much to explore and experience from bird watching, play, and quiet reflection. The cottage is within sight of Toddy Pond Farm, but has total privacy. Summer guests with kiddos who would enjoy more hands on farm time are welcome to enroll their kids in our farm camp. Info can be found on our website. TBD for 2024. Toddy Pond Farm was rated one of the Top 10 Getaways by Fodor's Travel - search for the article on the internet - key words Toddy Pond Farm & Fodor's. Please see our website for more details. Contact us directly through our website if you'd like to bring a pet. The cottage is situated on a working grass-fed farm where guests are welcomed to visit the farm yard to see the sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks and cows. Guests also enjoy the farm's private access to Toddy Pond for swimming, boating and fishing. We encourage guests to explore the 500+ acres of woodland, fields and trails. Your hosts Greg and Heide live and work full time on Toddy Pond Farm with our two sons, Guthrie (23) and Oliver (21). We or our staff are always here, and always busy! We are happy to answer questions if you should catch us outside, or via texts or email. Learn more about the farm on our website. There are no neighbors within sight or sound of the farm. Monroe is a wonderful small town with a rich and vibrant farming and artist community. Belfast, located 15 minutes away, is a fantastic little seaside city, with galleries, shops, restaurants, and a great natural foods coop. Camden, just south of Belfast is a popular tourist destination with a charming downtown and the Camden Hills which offer local hiking with spectacular views. An hour and a half east you'll find Acadia National Park, while busy in the summer months, is really too beautiful to miss. The farm is located at the end of a 1 mile dirt road that is town maintained, but depending on the season can be muddy or snow covered. There is a steep hill just before reaching the cottage. If you have questions or concerns about access please contact us prior to your arrival. While private, the farm cottage is just 15 minutes from Belfast for sightseeing, shopping, natural foods, arts and fine dining. Many of our guests come for these reasons, but actually end up spending most of their time relaxing and enjoying all that the farm, cottage and property have to offer.
