The space It is an apartment located in one of the few areas of the island still untouched by tourism, located in a small fishing village that continues to use ancestral fishing methods. Other things to note A-38-4-0005412 Being a fishing village you can enjoy the arrival at the small pier of the fishing boats, a spectacle worth experiencing. For years, the inhabitants of the El Pris neighborhood have tried to establish themselves as a community of the faithful and favor the construction of their own temple, under the seafaring dedication of the Virgen del Carmen. This construction, for various reasons, and in different locations, had been frustrated. The image of the Virgin, of great devotion and tradition among the neighbors, was deposited in the fishermen's brotherhood, as long as it could be returned to a place of worship. In an area without architectural references, where self-built buildings proliferate, the projected building aims to complete the façade of the complex built on the rock. The challenge was to integrate without imposing, so that the grouping of houses did not lose its character. The chapel is projected as a single cylindrical volume, truncated at its top. As servant spaces, a small prayer space is projected for the fishermen of the area, as a cave, and a sacristy. The altar is oriented to the north. The circular space where the assembly is located is an open space with no differentiation of heights. A single monolithic bench, which is born from the wall, will house the necessary seating places around the altar table. In the continuity of the wall, a Way of the Cross is projected, composed of 14 stars embedded in it. Above the bush-hammered concrete altarpiece, there is an important entrance of zenithal light, through a blue glass, which qualifies the resulting space. On a material level, the construction is of great austerity, the simplicity of the materials used and the use of resources such as natural lighting, give the building an ascetic character. The bush-hammered concrete altarpiece contains blue glass in its mass, which comes from the bottles of white wine from the land that we share with the residents of El Pris after the laying of the first stone. The circumference that forms the projection in the temple's plan represents the femininity of the Virgin Mary, the maternal figure who embraces the faithful. Thus, the Virgen del Carmen presides over the space, standing in the north as a metaphor for her role as a guide to sailors at night, the Stella Maris or Star of the Sea.
