The Little Blue Penguin Studio in Breaker Bay

A private, fully self contained space in the delightfully quiet Breaker Bay with nearly all day sun, and sheltered from the elements. You'll have stunning, uninterrupted sea and mountain views, and close to the airport but without the noise! The studio is entirely self contained with your own private bathroom and full cooking facilities. We recently installed a luxurious hotsprings spa pool available for guest use, located in our private and secluded garden sheltered from the weather. The space The Little Blue Penguin Studio is a very quiet, well appointed, fully self contained, private space that is warm and sheltered with stunning uninterrupted views across Breaker Bay and the rugged south coast. The Studio faces north and east so gets all day sun (opposite to northern hemisphere) from the early morning to early evening. The Studio is sheltered from the both the southerly and predominant northerly winds. The space is an open plan living and bedroom area with a fully equiped kitchenette with a refridgerator. The Studio is fully equipped with a Belling range stove (dual oven) with a four hob induction cooktop and rangehood. Attached to the living area is a separate bathroom with shower, toilet and handbasin, with a front loading high quality washing machine. The luxury shower we have installed has a high-flow rain head and separate hand shower. The shower is more luxurious than you would find in any 5* star hotel - so be prepared to enjoy it! Guests rave about our shower, the water pressure, and unlimited hot water from our continuous gas water heating system. On request, we provide luxurious quality Sheridan bathrobes that you are welcome to use - they're great for wearing to and from the spa pool. The studio living area is fully carpeted with a high capacity heatpump has been installed to keep you warm over the cooler months. In addition to the heatpump is a German LHZ electric radiator that is programmed to provide silent radiant heating during the night. The luxuriously comfortable queen size bed is fitted with the highest quality, Sheridan bedding, with a luxurious 100% goose feather and down duvet that is lightweight yet very warm and cosy. There are a set of drawers, a dining table and a wardrobe for you to use. You have unlimited high-flow hotwater from the infinity gas water heater which ensures your showers are just magical. The open plan living area has a lovely table for having breakfast at whilst enjoying the view outside across the bay. In the evening unwind and relax outside with a glass of wine with seaviews from the sheltered coutyard uti;lisiong the outdoor table and chairs. You have free access to our gigabit internet connection via ultrafast wifi so you'll have uninterrupted and unlimited internet access. As the Studio has a dedicated high-speed router you connect your PC, laptop to tablet via an ethernet cable for even faster connections - we have various ethernet adaptors available on request if you have an ipad or usb 3-c connections. There is a Nespresso Creatista coffee machine in the studio - we provide some capsules, but you may like to bring some of your own favourite capsules. All bed and bathroom linen is of the highest quality cotton made by Sheridan Australia that is freshly laundered before your arrival. The bed and mattress is of very high quality so you're guaranteed and restful night's sleep. A new 49inch ultra high definition 4K television has been installed that has Netflix and New Zealand free to air television channels for viewing. You can also sync this to your mobile or laptop devices. We are proud to say that The Little Blue Penguin Studio is the most well equipped Studio in Wellington with more amenities than any other similar Airbnb. The remainder of the property is shared with Raymond, your host, and Kelly the very loving and friendly dog who keeps watch over everything. Sometimes Meg, my partner's swedish valhund will be in the backyard with Kelly. They're both very friendly and welcoming! Guest access You enter the property to access the studio via a private locked gate to the side of the main house. Our preference is to meet guests in person, introduce ourselves and explain the features of the Studio. However, by prior arrangement, if you are arriving late at night or we're unable to meet you when you arrive, we can advise you where to locate a key in the secure lockbox so that you can access the studio. There is a set of 12 steps upto the studio apartment which is above and quite separate from Raymond's art studio. The studio is quite separate from the house so please respect others privacy and do not enter the house without permission. There maybe guests occupying the house exclusively or staying in one of the rooms. Guests using the house are not given permission to access the studio space. There is a private garden area with a table and two chairs outside the studio that is provided for your exclusive use. The seating area is perfect for enjoying stunning, panoramic seaviews from a very private and sheltered area. You have full shared access to the main garden courtyard the house downstairs where the spa pool is located. Below the studio is a workshop/creative space that is not used by anyone apart from ourselves and we're not often accessing it - it is not used or accessed by guests. You're welcome to visit or come down and say hi to us in the main house please do not enter without approval. Sometimes there will be other guests staying in the house, or they may have booked it entirely. We usually advise you on or before arrival if other guests are staying. During your stay you have FREE unlimited access to a a gigabit internet connection via ultrafast wifi through multiple channels. There is an ethernet cable in the Studio that you can connect your laptop to, and on request we can also provide adaptors for USB-C and Mac lightening connections if necessary. Universal power adaptors and USB chargers can also be provided on request When you have confirmed your booking, and shortly before your arrival, you will be provided with directions to find our place and asked to confirm a checkin time so that we can meet you and give you the keys to access the Studio. You may use the spa pool but additional charges will apply on a per use basis. We ask that you respect our conditions and terms of use - please enquire first. If you would like to experience true waterfront dining then you're most welcome to use the large outdoor dining table at the front of the house, or the picnic table across the road on the grassed area next to the parking layby. From February 2019 we have e-scooters available for guests to hire - it's a great way to get around the city without the hassles of driving and parking your car. It only takes 20min on the e-scooter to get into the city centre and there's so much to see and do on the way too. Other things to note As the Studio has all necessary amenities and cooking facilities we anticipate that guests staying in the Studio will be self sufficient in terms of cooking for and providing for yourselves. If I have been diving we may offer to share so kai moana (seafood) including our legendary Breaker Bay paua (abalone) burgers - better than Ferg's burgers in Queenstown and nothing like them on the menu there or anywhere else in New Zealand. Kelly, my best friend (canine) stays outside in the coutyard during the day and sometimes at night too - she's very friendly and adorable! There may also be Kelly's friends with her, Pirate or Meg, my neighbour's dogs. Raymond your host lives in the Little Blue Penguin House and may have other guests staying in the house too. We are always willing to assist guests plan the next stage of their adventures around New Zealand and have a comprehensive range of books, maps and other resources available for you during your stay. We will happily share our knowledge of the 'hidden gems' around New Zealand that are not often explored. One of our core values is Manaakitanga, which translated from the Maori language essentially means the mutual respect shared between hosts, guests and visitors alike.
