The Canaan

The Canaan Marari is an old building dating back to the 1800's. The current structure is an addition to the old wooden one storey hut. The Canaan Marari has been an integral part of the local history. The historic owners of the property were wealthy farmers. There is an underground room which was used in the old times to store grains. The space There are 5 rooms on the ground floor and 2 rooms on the first floor. The central living room is where we host our meals. The central living area consists of a 'Naalkettu' which encloses a small indoor pool. The outdoor space is lush green and sandy. We have had guests who have spent an entire night digging their feet into the cold sand and relaxing on the backyard under a canopy of trees and stars. Chethy beach is a hop away. You can enjoy a quiet evening on the beach watching the sun set. Guest access Guests will have access to all the 7 A/C rooms along with common areas like private living room, Garden, backyard, open terrace and kitchen. No other guests or person will be at the property. Other things to note If you are a morning person, go to the beach early morning around 6-ish. Fishermen bring in fresh catch and sort it for the day's sale. Its a sight to watch. Definitely try the Panchkarma Ayurveda massage to relieve knotted muscles Try out houseboating! Allapuzha is famous for houseboats. Rent a cycle from us and move around the neighborhood. Try the small roads and alleyways. You'll find a church every 3-4 kms. There is a church next door! Attend a sunday prayer, if you'd like. Try the 'Karimeen' fry. one of the famous dishes in Kerala.
