Enjoy the peace of this bucolic setting in the bluffs of the Loess Hills near the Missouri Nat'l Rec River bottom. The Cottage sits on an acre that's popular with deer, wild turkeys, and songbirds. Family and cultural activities, restaurants, and shopping are available at nearby Ponca (nine miles), home of Ponca State Park, and Vermillion, SD (18 miles), home of the University of South Dakota. Access to the Missouri River is nearby. We're 31 miles from S. Sioux City, 45 min. from Yankton. The space The Cottage offers a respite from the pressures and noise of daily living - unwired and unplugged! Guests remark on the quiet setting, and they relish cooking and eating outdoors and relaxing around the fire pit, playing cards, or watching movies on the DVD player. Places to hike, fish, and kayak are not far away. Also not far are good restaurants and shops. This is truly a wonderful weekend retreat. Guest access Guests have complete access to the cottage. The garage and shed also located on the property are private, i.e., off-limits to guests. Other things to note Enjoy outdoor cooking on gas grill. Gas and grilling utensils are provided. Picnic table seats 6-8. Kindling and wood for the portable firepit are stacked nearby. The living room has a TV that receives local channels (no cable nor Wifi) and a DVD player and several DVDs. There is a strong signal for cell service. The kitchen has pots, pans, bowls, large & small appliances, and utensils for food preparation.
