This is an early 1900's waterfront farmhouse with lots of character and vintage charm. The glassed-in front porch allows you to kick back and enjoy the picturesque views of Mystery Bay in any weather. We have WiFi, a DVDs and a player, and three wonderful parks close by (two within one mile). We are 16 miles from the beautiful seaport city of Port Townsend- known for music, dining, art galleries, parks, and we are 30 minutes from the 7 Cedars Casino. Beautiful hiking trails on & off island. This house has two bedrooms with queen beds- there is *also* a sunny bonus room that has a nice twin bed. Of all the sleeping areas- this small room actually has the best view- and a quarter-bathroom. It is separated from the main house by the entry hall, so it is also the most private. The kitchen comes stocked with likely everything you might need to cook with including corkscrews and both a drip coffee maker and an espresso maker. Fort Flagler State Park is about 2-1/2 miles away, and is the home of Olympic Kayak Tours (and Kayak Rentals). East Beach Park and Mystery Bay Park are each less than a mile away. East Beach park does not require a WA Discover Pass and is one of the nicest beaches around for walking and playing in the sand. All of the house and yard is available for your use except for the attic. I do offer free laundry service of two (or maybe even three) loads for guests staying over three days. When you book a listing with us, we make sure to include our personal phone numbers in case you have any questions. Sadly the old general store and post office are temporarily closed due to smoke damage. There is a QFC in Port Hadlock 6 miles away. I hope to be putting it back into my neighborhood description soon. Fort Flagler is just under 3 miles away and has incredible views from all points. Whidbey Island to the East, Indian Island and spectacular sunsets to the West, and Port Townsend to the North. There are wonderful trails and beaches to walk on, the Beachcomber cafe has burgers, sandwiches, and soft-serve ice cream during the Summer months. There is also a little playground and a large area that is perfect for flying kites. Olympic Kayak Rentals offers group tours and kayak rentals for those who want to be off on their own. Check out their website for more information. Next door is the Mystery Bay Goat Farm Dairy. They make award-winning cheese and you can get a guided tour, or if the kids want to pet some goats there are often a few in the afternoons in a fenced-in area a hundred feet from the farmhouse. Marrowstone Winery is only a couple miles away and usually has live music and food trucks on the weekends in the Summer. If you get there early you can usually find an empty picnic table. They usually have plenty of chairs, or you can bring your own. There is lots of room for the children to play in the large field. They have a nice selection of wine by the bottle or the glass and other nonalcoholic drinks to choose from. There are several restaurants within 10 minutes, including finer dining like The Alcohol Plant and the Ajax Cafe. There is also Ferino's Pizza, Fiesta Jalisco Mexican Restaurant, and The Farm and Sea Grill in Port Hadlock. In Chimacum, a popular place to go is Finn River Farm and Cidery, Which offers social distancing in an outdoor Seating Area. Port Townsend is a must-see! Lots of great dining, and wonderful shops and art galleries. There is no public bus that comes to our little island, but there is one that runs from Port Hadlock. There are no major car rentals nearby, but there is a car dealer that rents out cars, and I have heard he is pretty reasonable, but that you need to bring your own evidence of insurance. I have a scavenger hunt with clues for the kids, with a small prize at the end. The kids love it. They also enjoy going up the driveway a very short distance to pet the goats from the goat farm that are normally in the (fenced) field next to the road. When this house was built the average height of a man was 5'4". Even though the ceilings are 9' the doors to the bathrooms and pantry are 5'11. So if you are taller than that you will have to duck. This house is wonderful- with awesome views, nearby parks, and Olympic Kayak Rentals and Tours just 2-1/2 miles away. Mystery Bay Park is less than a mile away and has a wonderful dock for mooring boats. While I want my guests to have a vacation they will always remember and want to come back to, I also need to keep my wonderful neighbors happy. Our closest neighbor is a nurse who often has to be up early- so If you are out by the fire late, or return late we would appreciate you keeping the volume down.
