Surrounded by lanes, footpaths and farms & furnished as a home, not a business it's a very special place to stay. If you love English rural life, appreciate high & low-adrenaline outdoor pursuits, history, natural history, log fires, pubs and cider - you'll feel immediately at home. Stroll to pub, 10 mins to shops, 10 mins to moors, 30 mins to coast. The space 3 Part in Harvey: * 400 year-old thatched Devon cottage * Beautiful, historic village setting * 3 Bedrooms, sleeping up to 6 * Off road setting, with private garden * Friendly pub within stumbling distance * 3 Miles Dartmoor National Park * 3 Miles Okehampton market town * 1 Mile Tarka Trail * 23 miles North Devon coast Locally known as "3 Harvey's in Town" our cottage is a Grade II listed building of traditional Devon cob under thatch. We are situated just outside Dartmoor National Park in the beautiful conservation village of Sampford Courtenay and surrounded by miles of lanes, footpaths and farmland. The property has been entirely renovated by us and primarily for our own use. Consequently, you will find 3 Part Harvey's comfortably furnished as home, not a business, and a thoroughly special place to stay. Please do not come here looking for karaoke and clubhouses. However, if you love English rural life, enjoy high or low-adrenaline outdoor pursuits and appreciate log fires and cider - you will feel immediately at home. We advertise infrequently and most of our guests are friends and regular visitors. We chose Sampford Courtenay because, as a family, we enjoy: * Riding the bridleways and open moorland * Cycling round the lanes * Walking and camping on the high moor * Climbing the crags and tors * Kayaking the Dart, Tavy and Plym * Surfing the North coast * Tickling trout and fishing properly * Strolling the lanes * Poking through hedgerows * Swimming in secret streams *Riding on steam trains * Chilling on beaches * Watching ravens, listening to larks * Finding stone circles * Mooching in pubs * Loafing by fires *Pretending that we are farmers ! When we first moved here nearly 30 years ago, our kids were very small. There are loads of organised or (as we prefer) rather more disorganised things to amuse them too ! The area is absolutely full of history, prehistory, natural history and cool ways to explore them all. We still take our own holidays down here, so please feel free to call to ask why. Contact Nick or Teela by telephone on : (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or email us on: (EMAIL HIDDEN) WEEKLY BOOKINGS SATURDAY TO SATURDAY - please ask about other periods. During peak period, only weekly lets can be offered. If out of season we may be able to do 10 days or so but we will need to pre approve first Guest access We are a 5 minute walk from the New Inn. Follow the road between the thatched buildings until you get to the junction before St Michael's Church. Turn left here and go up the hill for about 200 yards. Turn into the small passageway between "Little Harvey's Barn" and "1 Part Harvey's" and you'll find it opens up into a parking area. Our parking space is the first on your right and clearly marked. Walk up towards the thatched properties and our back door will be facing you! Our property is self-contained. It is part of a group of 4 cottages in a courtyard renovated from farm buildings and a store many, many years ago. The cottage is 16th Century and grade 2 listed. There is a small patio with a couple of seats immediately in the front of part of the cottage. Our green and private garden is a few steps away, where you will find a picnic bench and gas BBQ. (No charcoal BBQ's are allowed because of the thatch). Other things to note Although the cottage can strictly sleep up to 6, it is not ideal for 6 adults. We have a three and a two seater settee in the lounge and the kitchen table has 4 chairs. We do have a further (matching) chairs . For a family with 4 children this could work if you wanted it to. The bathroom is located on the ground floor and has a bath with a shower mixer for washing hair but no separate shower. We have offroad space for one car in the courtyard parking area. This parking area is about 30 feet away from the cottage. We also have a garage where you can put bikes etc. but not fit and additional car. However, there is plenty of easy parking in the lane.
