Old Pony Stables Studio

The Old Pony Stables is a beautifully furnished, cosy and romantic open plan cottage in the grounds of Kellaways House. It has its own sun patio and direct access to the gardens. Designer fabrics, unique upholstered furniture pieces, and quality bedding including John Lewis sprung natural fibre mattress and quality appliances and equipment will make your stay extra special. There is an underfloor hearing to keep the cottage cosy in the cold weather. The space The Pony Stables are in the grounds of Kellaways House, our family home. The buildings were once part of the Moravian Church, and has had many functions and interesting occupants. Kellaways House was built in 1785 initially as a home for single sisters of the Moravian Church, quickly becoming a girls school a short time afterwards. Educating women in these times was very progressive. The school continued until the outbreak of the Second World War, where it became the temporary headquarters of the Moravian Church in the UK during the Blitz in London. After the War, it soon became a private residence being owned amongst others by modernist artist Richard Smith. Guest access Guests are welcome to enjoy our extensive gardens. Other things to note The Old Pony Stable is open plan, arranged in two sections: living area and bedroom area. The living area has a sofa, ottoman, and dining table and chairs. The bedroom area has a king-size bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, and bedside tables. There is a heated towel rail in the bathroom. The whole space is warmed by underfloor heating through a stone floor, which is controlled by a control panel on the wall. During colder months, the heating is on a timer between 6 am and 10 pm. The demand and temperature can be managed from the control panel to suit your preferences. Due to the method of heating, temperature changes should be applied gradually because it takes a while for the effects to be felt through the thick stone. However once heated the stone stay warm for hours. The bed is a king size and the mattress is a sprung mattress Filled with natural materials for your comfort.
