Description
Perched atop a forest clad cliff on the southernmost tip of Taal Lake, sits Ataalaya, a 5 hectare rural retreat that celebrates the heritage and traditions of Old Batangas, yet offers the comforts of modern living. Ataalaya's design could best be described as Colonial Melange - blending elements of Cape Dutch and Indian styles with Philippine architecture. Its most striking feature is the amazing vista of Taal Lake featuring Taal Volcano itself, the lake's islands, and majestic Mount Maculot. The space Perched atop a forest clad cliff on the southernmost tip of Taal Lake, sits Ataalaya, a 5 hectare rural retreat that celebrates the heritage and traditions of Old Batangas, yet offers the comforts of modern living. Ataalaya's design could best be described as Colonial Melange - blending elements of Cape Dutch and Indian styles with Philippine traditional architecture, creating the ambience of a colonial plantation home. The name Ataalaya is an amalgam of the Spanish word 'Atalaya' which means lookout tower or point, and Taal. Its most striking feature is the breathtaking vista of Taal Lake-- featuring Taal Volcano itself, the lake's islands, and, most remarkably, majestic Mount Maculot, dominating the lakescape. This is the side of Taal Lake that most visitors have never seen, with its jungle backdrop, unusual flora and fauna, and the absence of urban sprawl. One will experience the Lake as it must have been like in days gone by... Ataalaya is an ideal bed and breakfast for families and friends. It functions as well as a placeholder for events such as retreats, private functions, small conferences, reunions, team building, weddings, birthdays, etc. Ataalaya is truly a magical discovery just an hour and a half's leisurely drive south from Manila. Guest access Guests are free to use house facilities, including a 2 level pavilion and a jacuzzi overlooking the lake. The area also has a hidden bamboo garden which can be explored. Guests are also free to roam the plantation adjacent to the house. Although steep, there is a rough trail leading down to Taal Lake which you can hike to swim and see the lake from a different perspective. The house has a garage that can fit 5 cars, with more available parking space across the property. Guests can use the washing machine with a charge of PHP300.00 per load. The iron and ironing board can be borrowed, free of charge.
