Located in the historic 101 Rancho, this cozy apartment is part of an ongoing restoration of this famous pitstop. The apartment has been restored to period with the addition of a few modern amenities. Surrounded by working farms, and just a "stones throw" from Zion National Park, the 101 is the ideal place to set up your home away from home. The area surrounding the building is open for visitors to enjoy, including access to the Virgin River, and private access to walking paths and the river. Built in 1942, the 101 operated as a market, tavern and gas station for over 60 years. Willie Nelson, Robert Redford, Jane Fonda and others performed here in music and film. The establishment closed in 2008 but reopened in 2017 as a restoration project. The completed project will include a re-opened market and additional rentals. The space is very clean, and private. The outside of the building is somewhat rough and undergoing construction, but the space is new and bright. Guests are welcome to experience the farm, private walking paths and river access. Goats, chickens and other animals inhabit the farm area. We love meeting new people, but provide privacy and space. Self check-in and check-out are the process. Gene, Ronda, Kim and Yvonne and other family members are out and about during the day, working on the property and would love to spend a few minutes hearing about your adventures. They can also provide helpful tips to enhance your stay in the area. The 101 is on the far east side of the town of Virgin, and is entirely comprised of rural residences. Virgin is 10 miles from the entrance to Zion National Park, and is surrounded by some of the best hiking and mountain biking trails in the world. Virgin hosts Red Bull Rampage annually and owns and operates a professional BMX track. The 101 is near everything, but remote enough to provide a peaceful retreat from the chaos of travel. Virgin is a rural town and about 10 to 15 minutes from restaurants, gas stations, and other amenities. There is a river tubing business located in the town as well as a new restaurant opening in Sep 2020 called The Balcony. The apartment is operated below a home. The residents have children, but maintain a quiet time of 10 pm to 7 am. During the daytime hours, traffic in and out of the house can create noise in the space below. Every effort is made to keep traffic above the apartment at a minimum, but some noise during the daytime hours is to be expected.
