Traditional Windmill, Lefkes, Paros

This airconditioned Traditional Windmill was built in 1856 and was renovated as a small house with magnificent view to the sea and the village. Quiet place, five minutes walk from the center of Lefkes . The space Here we are in the splendidly beautiful island of Paros, in the picturesque and magnificent village of Lefkes, where our Windmill 7,50 m. high, was founded in the middle of the 19th century. The windmill is built up of huge stones forming its exterior wall of 120 cm thick, which embrace round-around its inner space of two floors and a four meters diameter. The Windmill has worked for many years, grinding the wheat of the villagers, assuring them the precious good of bread during those difficult years, until the middle of 20th century, when it was mortally wounded by a thunder. After that, the windmill, which was giving life to all the peasants, ceased its work. Today, 150 years after, we have renovated it in order to pay homage to that stony-ghost of the Aegean Sea, converting it to a monument of historical and cultural significance and retrospection; we try at the same time to pay a tribute as well to all those who worked and lived by its working wombs. Description of the windmill: At the main floor of the windmill there is a small kitchen with a refrigerator and an indoor sitting area. At the 1st floor there is the bedroom with a queen size bed, wc and a wardrobe, with AIRCONDITIONING. You can relax watching television or enjoying the view from the windows. Round-around the windmill there is a veranda six meters wide, where you can sit under the pergola, cook in the outdoor kitchenet and enjoy the unique view. In the lefthand side of the veranda, outside the windmill, there is a shower room, toilet and a washing machine. This used to be the millers warehouse.
