Converted theatre, historic centre
Description
Set of rooms with own bathroom (not ensuite, but near your bedroom) and your own private sitting room in large family flat in 19th century "palacete"; delicious breakfast (included) served; everything in walking distance, but quiet street. No extra costs (apart from airbnb's!) No kitchen or cooking facilities available. The space Exceptional set of rooms available in our flat. Delicious continental breakfast included and served; varied from day to day according to your preferences. The flat is very large and right in the heart of old Madrid, on a quiet side street just down from Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. Nearest metros: Tirso de Molina and Sol. The building is a mansion (small palace) from 1840 which was a theatre for a time and was completely restored to the mid 19th century style eighteen years ago. There is WiFi. The rooms which are exclusive to you are dotted around the flat and your bathroom is close to your bedroom but not ensuite. The bedroom, unlike your sitting room, is not large, but has everything you need: it's quiet, has a European-size double bed, window onto a light-filled outside stairwell, 3-door wardrobe and kettle & tea. It has a fan but not aircon. The bathroom in the photo, with freestanding bath with feet and shower, is for your sole use, as is your 22 m2 (237 sq.ft.) drawing room. There is central heating throughout, with magnificent cast-iron radiators and an adjustable thermostat in your drawing room. We are unable to provide cooking or kitchen facilities. Thanks to the flat's size you would be pleasantly independent, although feel free to ask me for information about shops, what to see, etc in the area, which I know very well. We have a shy but curious little quarter-Siamese queen cat. Non-smokers please. Parking has to be paid for (we're not in the historic quarter for nothing!): 24 hours in next street up, calle Relatores, in a privately managed garage is €30; if that's full, you have the big car park under Plaza Santa Ana which is the same distance from our flat and costs about the same. Unfortunately, neither access to the building nor the flat's design are suited to visitors with mobility difficulties (second floor, no elevator) and the bed is a bit short for people over 6 foot 3 in, although many tall people have stayed in it happily. Guest access As well as your own rooms - bedroom, bathroom and sitting room with 2 balconies onto the street, you are welcome to use space in the fridge, but kitchen and cooking facilities are not available. I will serve you breakfast in the dining room, next to your bedroom. There is good WiFi in the front part of the flat and less good coverage in your bedroom. There are 2 entrance doors, front and back, one of which is right next to your bedroom, so feels more private, but you will have keys to both, so can use whichever you prefer. During your stay I live and work in other parts of the flat, so can be available for help as much or as little as you wish! Other things to note Please note, mentioned above, that the flat is not suitable for those with mobility restrictions. It is on the second floor and there is no lift because of the architectural protection order on our historic double staircase. The price of beauty...
