Ode to the Orchard • outdoor bath, stunning views

A cosy, curated cottage with a rustic vibe, Ode to the Orchard is surrounded by the Adelaide Hills’ finest wineries and sits high on 16 acres. It is one of the original stone homes of the area and enjoys stunning 360 degree views of picturesque Lenswood. There is no better place to relax: soak in the gorgeous claw-foot bath looking out to the stars, enjoy that glass of local red by the fire, or try out our apple crumble recipe in the vintage wood-fired Aga. The space Ode to the Orchard is located on a hill looking out to apple orchards, vineyards, paddocks and forest. Two cosy bedrooms with queen beds, bathroom with shower over bath, lounge with wood fire (wood and firelighters provided), 2 leather lounges and armchair, full kitchen with electric stove and coffee machine (pods provided) and wood-fired Aga oven. The separate dining room has seating for 4. The laundry room has washer and dryer (washing powder provided), iron and ironing board. There are front and back porches to enjoy sunrise and sunset over the gorgeous Adelaide Hills area. We have a lovely outside claw-foot bath (under cover) looking out to the view where you can enjoy the blue sky by day or the stars at night - truly magical! Cooking in the vintage wood-fired Aga is a beautiful and unique country experience and we highly recommend - it keeps the house extra toasty! We have our recipe and ingredients for apple crumble waiting for you (Aga instructions provided in the Welcome book) - all you need to do is bring ice cream! The house is kept very cosy in winter and cool in summer with ducted heating/cooling. As well as this, the bedrooms have electric blankets and the lounge has the wonderful wood fire. For those traveling with babies there is room for your portacot to be set up in one of the bedrooms or in the dining room (next to the bedrooms) and we can provide a high chair with prior notice. Please note there is not a screen in front of the combustion fire so you would need to take care with little ones. The deck can look like a large drop off in the photos but it is only 60cm above the garden at the highest point. Follow us @ode_totheorchard Guest access Guests have access to the entire property around the cottage (except the shed). We ask that guests not enter the paddocks and orchard as there are cattle wandering about (which can easily get out) and electric fences. Other things to note The Adelaide Hills are often 3-5 degrees cooler than Adelaide town, which is lovely in the heat of summer and a great chance to snuggle by the fire in winter! So please take that into account when checking the weather forecast for Adelaide prior to your trip.
