Alba | Cape Woolamai Beach House with Sunny Deck

The house is designed with a gentle nod to the classic twentieth-century Australian beach house. High ceilings create a spacious, airy feel, with plenty of natural light and character. Much of the home has been built by us using recycled timbers and carefully chosen vintage pieces. The space The space The house features a large open-plan living area that brings together the lounge, dining space and a well-appointed kitchen. A servery window from the kitchen and stacking sliding doors from the dining area open directly onto a large wrap-around deck, creating an easy connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. While there are some great places to eat on and around the island, many guests find themselves cooking and entertaining comfortably at home. The deck includes a large outdoor dining table and an outdoor lounge, making it a pleasant place to relax and spend long afternoons outside. The front yard is securely fenced and includes a sandpit, making the space suitable for families with children. Inside, a generous window-corner lounge with futon mattresses is a comfortable spot to rest and read. These futons can also be used as additional single beds and are best suited to children. All bedrooms are fitted with block-out blinds, and beds are made up with cotton and linen bedding. For cooler weather, a Nectre wood heater is available, with some firewood provided. There is also a split-system air conditioner in the main living area. Because the house is compact, with bedrooms opening off the living space, heating and cooling work effectively throughout. Each room has installed ceiling fans, and the windows allow good cross-ventilation from the sea breeze. The bathroom is a large family bathroom with a separate toilet. There is also a private outdoor hot shower. The backyard includes raised garden beds with herbs and seasonal greens that guests are welcome to use. The laundry is fitted with a front-loading washing machine, with washing liquid provided, and a traditional Hills Hoist for drying beach towels and clothes.
