The Summer House — Unique Hilltop Retreat for up t
Description
The Summer House is a beautifully converted hilltop retreat, perched at the top of 14 acres of Wiltshire countryside with sweeping views over the estate and open countryside beyond. Bright, modern and completely self-contained — with a double bed on a galleried mezzanine accessed by ladder stairs, two sofa beds, a fully equipped kitchen, modern wet room and a private patio with dining table, chairs and BBQ. Fibre Wi-Fi, streamed TV and Sonos ceiling speakers throughout. The space The Summer House sits at the highest point of the Alderbury Hill estate — a family home in 14 acres of grounds, paddocks and open countryside. Converted in a Cape Cod style with a soaring vaulted ceiling, it is bright and modern yet warm and cosy. The Summer House sleeps four: a double bed on the galleried mezzanine level, accessed by ladder stairs, and two single sofa beds in the main living space — ideal for two guests with children or two couples travelling together. The bathroom is a modern wet room with hand shower. The kitchen is fully equipped with induction hob, two ovens, microwave, dishwasher and two fridges. The living area has fibre Wi-Fi, streamed TV and Sonos ceiling speakers. Outside, a private patio with dining table, chairs and BBQ enjoys the best views on the estate — looking out over the grounds, the main house and open Wiltshire countryside. On arrival you'll find milk, butter, jam, tea, coffee and sugar waiting for you — everything you need to settle straight in. We offer local produce hampers, breakfast boxes and BBQ bundles — sourced from nearby farms and producers and delivered to your cottage before you arrive. Just message us at least five days before your stay to place an order. A curated local guide is available with our hand-picked restaurants, walks, days out and local tips. Guest access The Summer House is fully self-contained with its own private garden entrance. Guests have exclusive use of the patio area and BBQ, and are welcome to enjoy the estate's gardens, walking field and paddocks. We ask that guests keep to the guest areas and are mindful of the garden directly around the main house and the private spaces of neighbouring cottages. We are usually on hand to welcome you on arrival and show you around. If we are unable to meet you, we will let you know in advance and arrange for your keys to be left somewhere safe. Parking is available on site. Other things to note Check-in is from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. If you are arriving after 8:00pm, please let us know in advance and we will make arrangements to leave your keys safely. No parties. We are a quiet country estate and ask that every stay remains peaceful for other guests and our neighbours. Commercial filming requires prior approval from the owner and may attract additional charges. Dogs are welcome — £40 for the first dog, £10 for each additional. Please keep dogs off the furniture and under control around our resident ponies. The Summer House involves ladder stairs to the mezzanine level — not suitable for guests with limited mobility. Carbon monoxide and smoke alarms are installed throughout. We share the estate with Rudi our German Shorthaired Pointer and our two Shetland ponies, Manny and Felicity — all very friendly and love to say hello. Other properties on the estate: The Carriage House (sleeps 6), The Old Stables (sleeps 6) and The Coach House Apartment (sleeps 4). The Carriage House and Old Stables can be booked together for groups of up to 12.
