Just 45 minutes from NYC, this art-filled, beachfront home on the Hudson is a hidden gem. Enjoy peace + quiet + privacy. Relax on the treehouse - like deck + enjoy the amazing view. If you love nature, you can bike (use of bikes included) or hike + then take a hot tub + watch the boats go by. Or launch a kayak from our beach (use of kayaks + water shoes included). Kick off your shoes + make yourself at home at this hide-away on Haverstraw Bay! Not sure? Please read our past guests’ reviews! The space This house is very special. It's the gorgeous waterfront, but also the treehouse effect you get on the decks. It's the art that is everywhere- inside + out. And the abundant house plants. As one guest concisely put it, "This place has great energy." We think so too + we're sure you will love it! The house has a spacious and extremely well equipped eat-in kitchen, a living room with huge windows and sliders that provide an incredible view. A full bath off the living room. The bedroom is spacious with a queen sized bed and a desk area perfect for WFH. There is also a laundry room with brand new washer and dryer. The house has two decks, both with amazing views. On the upper deck you can fix yourself a meal on the grill and enjoy your choice of lounge or adirondack chairs. The lower deck has the same awesome views of the water, which you can enjoy while relaxing on the loveseat hammock swing. This is especially awesome at sunrise. But the main feature of the lower deck is the brand new 45 jet hot tub. Access is just steps from the back door! You will have exclusive use of all the amenities in the listing- hottub, decks, grill, bikes, and the kayaks. Note that the kayaks are available upon request only. Please message us at least 24 hours in advance. The house is in a secluded neighborhood of just a few dozen houses on the banks of the Hudson River. It's nestled between the old stone quarry and Haverstraw Beach State Park. It is a truly unique location. Many locals don’t even know about it! Guest access Right out the back door is Haverstraw Bay- the widest point of the Hudson River- an incredibly diverse estuary. Imagine kayaking where Henry Hudson first moored the Half Moon. Paddle south and enjoy the beautiful scenery - miles of pristine parkland riverfront. In the autumn months, this is an especially stunning way to view the fall foliage! Are you a runner, or do you bike, walk, or hike? Our street dead ends at the entrance to a waterfront State Park with 7 miles of gorgeous walking/biking trails right along the Hudson and the beautiful Palisades (trail is flat with some minor hills). Old WPA stone houses dot the trail along with a marker for the meeting between Benedict Arnold and the British. For the more adventurous, the Long Trail offers many miles of hiking with majestic river views. Are you a birder? Haverstraw Bay is one of the most lush and diverse estuaries on the East coast. There are two bald eagles nests within two miles of the house just inside the State Park. We also have Ospreys (a pair is in the process of building a nest visible by kayak) and several Great Blue Herons who make regular appearances. Swans swim by on occasion- sometimes ten at a time. Every year we watch the geese teaching their goslings to swim and dive for dinner. There's even an occasional harbor seal. We also see (and hear) Pileated Woodpeckers while walking along the riverside bike path. In the fall, enjoy the peak fall foliage! Go apple picking and enjoy fresh cider donuts, or pick out a pumpkin to carve at our local orchard - less than 1 mile from the house. More good stuff! We are located in the Lower Hudson Valley in Rockland County just a short distance from many amazing nature parks and other attractions. Harriman State Park and Bear Mountain are just short drives away as are Dia Beacon, Storm King sculpture park, and West Point. If you like craft beer, award winning Industrial Arts Brewery is just 3 miles away, located in the Garner Historic District. Also, great shopping at the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets is just a 20 minute drive away. Want to commute to work or just go to NYC? A high speed ferry goes across the river to Ossining train station in just minutes. Then it's 45 minutes to NYC on Metro North (weekdays only) into Grand Central. Other things to note 1. The kayaks are available (free!) upon request with 24 hour notice. We need to speak before the first time you take them out. This is to go over essential safety procedures (where to find life vests, etc., make sure you understand how the tides work here and how they affect your paddling.) 2. Your space consists of the ground floor and garden floor of the house. It is exceptionally private as reflected in our reviews. You have exclusive use of the decks (one on ground floor and one on garden level), hot tub (on lower level), bicycles, etc. The only shared space is the entryway. If you prefer your own private entrance, the back door does have a keyed lock. We'd be happy to give you the key if you request it. 3. There is a walkway down the hill to the river from the house, part stone path, part stairway. 4. We have one security camera outside, pointed at the front door. We sometimes get asked to elaborate because AirBnB does not provide details in their listings. We want to assure our guests that there are no security devices (video or audio) anywhere else on the property.
