About the host
Description
Gardener's Cottage adjoins the owners Victorian house set in 4 acres of well gardens through which a river flows. The cottage, formerly an old water mill originates from 1700s and is a very quirky self-contained traditional cottage with all facilities necessary for a comfortable base to explore the beautiful Lake District and nearby coastline. It sleeps 4 (5 with a camp bed or travel cot) and is in peaceful surroundings on the edge of a village, 5 minutes walk from the village shop and cafe. The space Downstairs consists of one living area with a cosy log-burner television with inbuilt dvd player and comfy sofa. The kitchen is part of the living room and provides a fridge with icebox, washing machine, dishwasher, electric cooker, kettle, toaster, microwave and crockery/cutlery etc. Full broadband WiFi in the holiday cottage is included. Stairs lead up from the living room to the bedroom and shower room. The bedroom has a double bed and two single beds which are on a sleeping platform with limited head room accessed by a stepladder. These beds are more suitable for children or agile adults! There are two wardrobes, a chest of drawers and two bedside cabinets. We provide a welcome hamper for you to enjoy a simple snack/breakfast with tea, coffee etc. Their is a hotub and spa and plunge pool/bath which is available for unlimited use for an extra one off cost of £40 to help cover cleaning, maintenance and fuel costs, payable in cash to the owner. Guest access The large garden has space for badminton on the front lawn, paddling and fishing with nets in the river and a barbeque is available for guests to use. There is also a small games room in the garden with table football and table tennis. Other things to note The garden area surrounding the cottage is fenced off to stop children wandering too far but care should be taken to supervise children at all times due to the proximity of the river. Mobile phone signal is very limited to none existent in the cottage and a bit better in the garden and in the village, depending on the network. O2 is one of the better networks for getting a signal.
