A fire pit is available in the spacious backyard that overlooks the horse paddocks. We will greet you if you would like to meet us, or we will allow you to have a private stay if you prefer and provide a coded lockbox for key access. We invite our guests to experience the activities of our working horse ranch, including joining us to experience feeding the horses which occurs every morning and evening. Our Lancaster County farm neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful, and the brick farm house with the apartment(s), sits way back off the road, along our farm lane across from the rolling Chiques Creek. Guests can explore the historic 19 acre farm (the barn built in 1809 and the brick house built in 1814), enjoy a hike through the wooded trails, a short stroll past the historic mill in front of the house, along the Chiques creek, or just enjoy the tranquility of the babbling stream when sitting in the private front yard. Many of our guests say this feels like a retreat for them, with all the amenities of home. While in a peaceful rural setting, Pleasant Pines Stables is located about 5 miles from major highways, Route 30, Route 283, and Route 23. Major foodmarkets (Wegmans, Giant and Weis) are within 10-15 minute access, and Lancaster's oldest Central Market is less than 12 miles from the farm. Located just 4 miles from the Mount Joy Amtrak train station, our apartment is centrally located with access to Harrisburg, York, Hershey, Lancaster, Baltimore, Washington DC, Philadelphia and NYC.
