Description
Our home sits on 2 acres atop a ridge at 9100 feet with spectacular views of America's Mountain Pikes Peak to the south and the Tarryall mountains to the west. Our property is within a short drive of a couple quaint mountain towns with all the amenities you could ask for. Enjoy the quiet retreat of staying home or check out the many outdoor activities in the area . . . Self service check-in and check-out. 7 day maximum stay. Additional days upon request. The space We just finished our final remodel project so it feels fresh and new. The Sunroom is becoming our favorite space in the house. It has a 14 foot opening that provides protection from the elements but feels like an outdoor space. It is true that we do NOT have air conditioning. It is rare that the temps get warm enough at 9100 feet of altitude to need air conditioning. The climate is also very dry so even warm temps are comfortable. The main house has 2 bedrooms with queen size beds. The rental also includes our studio apartment adjacent to the house. It has a queen bed and private bath with a kitchenette. Perfect spot for those family members traveling with you that need a bit of extra space and privacy. A couple of notable house rules: SMOKING AND OPEN FLAME POLICY No smoking of any kind anywhere on the property. Smoking at the end of the driveway is also unacceptable. No candles or open flames of any kind in the space or on the property. Fire danger is great in our dry climate. OCCUPANCY 6 guests max. Only the number of guests confirmed in the reservation will be allowed in the home or on the property unless other arrangements are made with us prior to arrival. You can also feel good about renting our place as we donate 10% of our income from our rentals to several charities. Guest access We travel often while renting our home but, if we're in town, we'll be staying in our RV on the far end of the property. We value greatly your privacy so just let us know if you need something otherwise the most you'll see us is driving back to the RV. Other things to note This is mountain living so take care when on the property. Lots of gopher holes and uneven ground. The views are spectacular but with that comes the risk of a windy day once in a while too. COLORADO WINTER TRAVEL: There is a possibility of snowy roads anytime from September through April. It's such fickle weather. One day can be sunny and 50 degrees and the next day a 6-inch snowfall. Generally the roads clear up within a day or two of a snowfall so the impact isn't too troublesome. If you rent our place in this time frame, be sure to drive a vehicle with good all season tires. All wheel drive isn't usually necessary as our driveway is flat and the road to the house is plowed often. If there is a snowfall during your stay, we will have the driveway plowed out if we get more than 4 inches of snow and after the snow has stopped falling. If a snowfall lasts more than a single day, we may have it plowed out each day of a snowfall if more than 4 inches accumulate. The boardwalk will be shoveled too when the driveway is plowed. There will be a shovel and broom available if you would like to clear any snow on or around your vehicle or on the boardwalk or decks. Use caution during any snowfall as steps and walks can become unexpectedly slippery. Message us if you have any issues.
