Description
Unique 170 m2 house with 400 m2 garden which scouts use for their meetings in the countryside. Something different, not like any other. Modest, but equipped with everything you need. Located at lake in a rural village, yet very close to city Kranj (7' by car), Ljubljana (20'), Lake Bled (30') and Postojna cave (1h). Ideal for families traveling by car since it has a central location from where most points of interest are reachable in an hour. Not suitable for a party or public transport users. The space This house is officially rated as a holiday home so, just like in any other tourist facility, each adult needs to pay 1.45 € tourist tax per night (in other more tourstic communities like Ljubljana, Lake Bled and the seaside is 3.5 €). Children from 7 to 17.99 years pay 0.73 € per night, but children up to 6.99 years or disabled persons (with a valid disabled's ID) don't pay the tax at all. The tax is collected in cash at check-in and automatically calculated by the registration application. If you decide to stay longer than 6 nights then Airbnb will automatically lower you the basic price for 6 % discount (by experiences of former guests the app sometimes doesn't inform you about that, but if you do the math you'll notice a difference in the price per night between 6 and 7 nights long stay). A discount of 10 % will automatically apply in case of 30 nights or longer stay. If you’re scouts and you're looking for a place for your summer camp, read "Other things to note". This used to be a small farm house which scouts have renovated with their own hands to provide a space for meetings in the countryside. We've made a compromise between keeping the original old traditional look (for instance firewood-stoves and fireplaces, brick walls in the attic) with all the necessary modern amenities, including air conditioning of the whole place. Now we call this house "a place for making unforgettable stories". In autumn and winter we have here scout meetings and educational courses, but we make it available for other guests when we don't plan activities in it. If you also find our house interesting and would like to make your own unforgettable story in it, then you’re welcome to come, especially if you are or used to be a member of the scout movement or if you just like modest accommodations like ours. What you pay to the Airbnb will help support our scout activities in the house and the further renovation of it, as this is never ending process. Also, if you'd like to stay at our place but you have some suggestions or wishes, just let us know and we'll try to make it real for you. In the summer all main rooms can be cooled down with air conditioners (3 bedrooms, living room and the kitchen). In cold period we use for heating a combination of air conditioners and traditional stoves and fireplaces on firewood, as well as floor heating in the kitchen and in the basement. As you can see from the photos there are traditional Christian religious symbols and pictures in the house, but we respect and welcome under our roof people of all faiths and believes. Village church is right behind the house, 100 m away. Church bells mark each 15 minutes a time passing by and they additionally ring in the mornings & evenings, especially on Sundays or important religious holidays. If you wish to sleep with windows open consider that it might wake you up each day at 7:00. In the summer, unfortunately, we have lot of mosquitos everywhere around Slovenia and our village is no exception. Although we have mosquito screens on all windows, they always find their way into the house. Inside we have different appliances to terminate mosquitos or flies, but keep in mind that you'll also need to use personal mosquito repellents. Guest access Whole house is at your service, that means: On the ground floor: - kitchen and living room (with air conditioning) - dormitory-style bedroom for up to 7 people (with air conditioning) - bathroom with a shower-bathtub and washbasin - separated toilet room with a washbasin In the attic: - bedroom for up to 3 people (with an air conditioner) - big multi-purpose room aka 3rd bedroom for up to 6 people (with air conditioning) - terrace with a table, 4 outdoor chairs and a hammock In the basement: - bathroom with a shower, toilet and washbasin - utility room with washing machine, 2 additional washbasins and urinal Outside: - a whole backyard - a lot of garden furniture with chairs, benches, tables, umbrellas - a garden kitchen with portable induction hob and electric grill as well as a charcoal grill for barbecue - 3 hammocks - 2 swings - a net and few pairs of rackets for badminton - 2 goals and balls for football - a sandbox for children to play - 6 bikes (3 very old and traditional, 3 more modern) and 4 biking helmets which you can freely use for some easy cycling around the village There's enough place to park 3 cars in front of the house. Other things to note The legislation about renting Airbnb homes in Slovenia demands that every adult guest, who wish to rent legally through Airbnb, needs to pay a tourist tax, just like staying in any other tourist facility like a hotel, motel, camp etc. So it should be the same everywhere you’d like to rent Airbnb legally. If they won't charge you the tax, you'll be renting it illegally. Ask about that before you book your place somewhere. The advantage of staying at us is that the tax is only 1.45 €/adult person/night while in more tourstic communities like Ljubljana, Lake Bled and the seaside is 3.5 €. Children from 7 to 17.99 years pay 0.73 €/night, but children up to 6.99 years and disabled persons (with a valid disabled's ID) don't pay the tax. Scouts on a summer camp - if there are few more than 15 people we have some extra mattresses to sleep on a floor. And in case the renting price is a bit too high for you, let us know and we'll find the right price for your scout camp budget. We've been in that situation many times before and we know the story well. Neighborhood overview You must be aware that the house stands in center of a quiet, rural village and it isn't suitable for parties or loud music etc. During the day you'll hear and occasionally smell cows, tractors and church bells (the church stands 100 m away from the house and it starts ringing at 7:00), but in the evening the village becomes very quiet since people and farm animals need good night rest. That means you also need to turn down your noise volume after 22:00. Or you can go to one of three pubs in the village as well. One of them is very nice. It's actually a boathouse where you can also rent an SUP (check photos in photo gallery). There's a free access to the lake 1 minute of walking away from the house where you can swim or put your own SUP or rowing boat into the water (check photos in photo gallery). Swimming is of course on your own responsibility and let’s stress that there are no lifeguards there. But you can also swim at the beautiful Boathouse caffe which is 5 minutes of walking from the house and where you can also rent SUPs (check the photos). From our house you can take many nice walks around the countryside in all directions. Village is well connected with a network of cycling paths which are also lit during the night. 5 km from the house there are ruins of an old castle on top of a hill over village Smlednik. During the day there's nice vista from the top and during the night it gets fairy like in an old fairy tale (again check the photos). Location of the village is also very suitable for different activities in the region. There's only 15 km to the best known Slovenian ski centre Krvavec, 35 km to Slovenian natural pearl Lake Bled, 15 km to our capital Ljubljana and only 5 km to city Kranj, where you have everything that city usually offers: shopping centres, cinemas, lot of different bars and restaurants, sport infrastructure, swimming pools etc. The main Slovenian airport - Jožeta Pučnika Ljubljana - is only 8 km away. Getting around If you decide to come by car there's place for 3 cars in front of the house. If you travel with public transportation you have to be aware that Slovenian countryside villages aren’t as well connected with public bus services as are the cities. From Monday to Friday public bus connects Trboje with Kranj 7 times per day. In Kranj the same bus stops at the main bus and at main train station, too. Bus ticket costs 1.8 €/person. On weekends there are no buses at all. Bus station in Trboje is 50 m from the house. Trboje doesn’t have a direct connection with Ljubljana. You’d firstly have to go by bus to Kranj and from there with public buses or trains anywhere you wish to go. Kranj is connected very well with all other cities and directions. So let's stress that the location is mostly suitable for somebody with a car or for somebody who's planning to have an easy weekend with resting and attending just local activities.
